Pitches per inning?
Re: Pitches per inning?
I score table top games of APBA baseball. I don't need a 1/2 inning recap. I've gotten to where I can play out a game and score it pretty quickly, and having an extra dialog box to simply dismiss will just be in my way.
I certainly see how for those scoring little league it may be a big plus. It just isn't of any help to me, and would be in the way.

Re: Pitches per inning?
I'd like to echo the urgency to prioritize either the more granular pitch count or the 1/2-inning recap. I've lobbed this request in via email, but figured I'd put it in the forum for broader discussion.
Just as others have mentioned, our LL is a stickler for pitch counts. A kid's eligibility to pitch on a given day is constrained by the number of pitches thrown in the previous game, so the difference between the 39th pitch and the 40th pitch is huge. The checks and balances the league has put in place require both teams to keep the pitch count, and it's reconciled each half inning. So although only the total number of pitches counts in the big picture, the number of pitches per inning is what is used to keep the reconciliation clean.
It amazes me, too, that three different counters can come up with three different pitch counts. Not only do pitches fail to be counted on hits or base-running plays, but sometimes an excited pitch counter will see a multi-base steal or a pickoff attempt, and just add a pitch or two to the count "just in case he missed something".
Right now, I check the starting pitch count each half inning, then deduct that from the final pitch count (which I can only get to by hitting UNDO after the last pitch has been thrown and adding one). Of course, if an inning drags on, I have to either write down the starting pitch count or ask the paper scorekeeper what it was.
My suggestion is to have another horizontal scroll entry (like the box scores, notes, and Twitter) that gives pitch count information for the current inning. It would also be nice to have a counter on each batter so the total number of pitches is displayed for each at-bat (without having to go to the scorecard). Being able to recreate the at-bat pitch by pitch (particularly when there have been a lot of foul balls) would go a long way to avoiding disagreements over pitch counts.
I do like the idea of the half-inning recap. This would solve most of the pitch count issues at exactly the moment the information is needed. At the end of every half-inning, there's usually a chorus of "I got 17 pitches, what did you get?" The fact that I have to fumble for the info and do the math calls into question the accuracy of the iScore data.
Here's stuff I'd like to see in the half-inning recap:
- Runs scored
- Hits
- Errors
- LOB
- Pitches by pitcher (i.e., broken out by however many kids pitched)
Thanks!

Re: Pitches per inning?
Thank you for summarizing what others have been requesting as well. We will be adding this in a future release.

Re: Pitches per inning?
I would like to not on see pitch count per inning but also the pitch location per inning. So I know how to adjust the kids pitching and also to see how the opposing pitcher is pitching so i can adjust my batter
Re: Pitches per inning?
I would like to express the upgrade to 1/2 inning recaps should be
raised up to a very high prioroty. Like others have said, it could be a
feature that is turned on or off. It is very frusting to try and find out
the pitch count when the inning just ended and the screen goes to
the other team automatically.
I also agree that not being able to see these numbers quickly does
seem to take away the credability of this program when if we use
paper and pen or a pitch counter the numbers are readily available.
I think the recap screen should include the list abovbe as well as;
- pitches by pitcher per inning as well as total since they started
- runs
- hits
- errors by position
- maybe even total balls and separately total strikes per pitcher per inning
Thanks

Re: Pitches per inning?
While we do not understand how not having half inning recaps would take away credibility of the program, we have added the half inning recaps for the next release. We are still working on that release but will be submitting to Apple soon.

Re: Pitches per inning?
FTM, lack of half inning recap does not diminish the credibility of the app. I think the point of Rosto's comment is that when an ump or coach ask for the pitch count and it takes some time to go get the info then the perception is that the information is not as credible as an instant response. I appreciate that you have added the recap in the next release.
Re: Pitches per inning?
Danmcc is absolutely correct, do you have any idea when this new release with the recap function will be submitted for approval or approved?
