Hi All:
Eight games in the the I-pad version and must say that I love it.
Question:
2 outs, man on first and second, batter hits grounder up middle and strikes second base runner in foot. I would like to know how to score this play correctly. When I did it it showed HBB for the batter's place on the score card.
Thanks,
Rick

Re: Hit by Ball
I assume you would log the batter as a hit and when it asks you what happened to the runner on 2nd you hit out and one of the choices is hit by ball
Re: Hit by Ball
what you did wrong was not score the batter first, He was not HBB, the runner was
since runner called out, i will assume the on field call was the infielder still had a play on the ball, so likely a FC
In play , fielders choice, (FC based on scorer judgment)
What happen to runner at second?
out: hit by ball
What happed to runner at first? second, Held up
what happen to batter? first, held up

Re: Hit by Ball
Is it a fielder's choice when the fielder never made a choice? Seems like a fielder's choice would need to be a cleanly caught ball and then the fielder decides to not go for batter.
Re: Hit by Ball
the original question was how to input iscore so scorecard more correct. i think we covered that.
the question of is it a hit or FC, is a different one. i leave it to scorer judgment.
rule guidance in 10.05.a.5 and 10.05.b.5 give support to either.

Re: Hit by Ball
We had a thread previously on hit or not when the runner is hit by the ball. As I recall if the runner is hit by the ball before the fielder has the opportunity to field the ball the batter is awarded a hit and of course the runner is out. If the fielder has the opportunity before hitting the runner then regular rules apply for error or hit.
