Quickest Way to Find Person Who Made Last Out

Post by gbiscorer » Mon Apr 04, 2011 7:27 am

What is the quickest way to determine which player made the last out?

Our coach wil sub runners for pitchers or catchers and the person who is put on the base must be the last out. My memory is not that great so I need to get this information from iScore and I usually need it quickly. This goes for our team and also to check the other team when they make substitutions for their pitchers and catchers.

Either scroll back on the pitch by pitch listing (easy to spot outs because the out value will be red) or open the scorecard for a quick glance at the last out.

there is no button that calls up last out.

some find easiest to see that on the score card, ( available from the scorecard/tools icons on the main scoring screen) .. others find it easiest to look at the batting line up. (on iPad the line up is on the main scoring screen, on others misc - Show starting line up). (FTM had a nice suggestion too, use the pitch by pitch)

comment, check you league rules " is it last out", or "most recent batter not on base".. may not matter for your league but there is a small subtlety.. When i have seen the rule formally documented to allow courtesy runners, it has more often called for the "last batter not on base" which may or may not be the last out.

example
B1 flys out, B2 home run, B3 catcher single, courtesy runner allowed for catcher.
if last out rule , then B1
if last batter not on base rule , then B2.

I guess this just shows how different the rule sets can be since courtesy runners aren't part of most rule sets. When I see the CR rule documented, it is usually the "last out" or the "last batted out". I don't think I've ever seen "last runner not on base" documented. I have seen it used at the start of the game before an out is made, but not documented as such. I would love to see the suggestion implemented that someone made (teammom I believe) to highlight the last few outs in the list of players available to CR. However, this just shows it still wouldn't work for some of us.

It would be killer if when a pitcher or catcher gets a hit and is on base a note either pops up or the last out gets highlighted.

Or perhaps when you hit the runner and select courtesy runner you could first have it say, "do you want to use last out -------?". Then you chose no you get the lineup card like it is mow.
