When to use Recalc? How to avoid wiping out data?

Question 1.) Other than manually editing stats, is there any reason to use the recalc button?

The reason I ask is because I have entered our first 10 games of the season as a single game to ensure season stats are kept. I've also manually changed a game stat in two scored games. It's my understanding that I must use the recalc button, but chose the "NO" option to reset the stats properly. But if I accidentally hit "YES" I will lose my manually entered data.

I am concerned that at some point throughout our long year (75 games or so) I will accidentally hit "YES" and wipe out my data. So far, it seems that I use the recalc button frequently and there's a high likelihood of a mistake.

Question 2.) Is there a way to lock the data so it can't be wiped out?

Thanks for your reply, is there any traction gaining to provide locking out the data so that a slip up doesn't erase the data as an enhancement in the future?

What is the purpose of the recalc button if you are pressing "no"? I thought iscore recalced stats automatically, and the only time you would want to use the recalc button is if you wanted to erase any overrides and go back to iscore stats? Can someone explain what the proper use of that button is? I have never used it.

When you press "no", you are specifically asking the app not to override the manual statistics created outside of scoring a game. Whereas if you press "yes" it compiles only the statistics of games that were scored using iScore. When this happens, all of the manual data you have entered will be wiped out. In my case, I needed to add 10 games prior to me using iScore and I created a sample game called "Stats Catch-up". I started a game, ended it immediately and went into the statistics portion and added all stats from the previous 10 games. It's this data that I am worried I'm goign to lose if I accidentally hit the "yes" button.

Here's a better question: Why don't we have just a single button that doesn't clear overridden stats? If you've manually entered the data, you'd want it to stay there no matter what right? If you haven't manually entered data, then it still calculates properly?

Call me the dummy and make the app "Dummy Proof"? I don't see a reason why there'd be an option for recalculating the game with only scored games?

There have been bugs in the past with stats. Once those bugs were fixed, he recalc was required in some cases to fix the stats up.

I'm still not sure I grasp the meaning of recalc, but to summarize, in the normal course of iscore, there is no need to ever use it. The exceptions would be if you have used manual overrides in the past and want to go back to iscore stats, OR iscore has issued a app upgrade and the recalc is required to fix a previously identified bug. Of course if you have manual overrides and there is a bug, you can press recalc and NO and your overrides will not be reset. Is this correct?

Thanks for the responses, I understand how it works. I'll try to be careful not to accidentally hit it. I'll also export my game information after each game to always have the bulk of the scoring in case I make a mistake and hit yes.
