Re: Time Outs Remaining
You can enter the time outs for home or visitor, and they appear in the Play by Play listing, but we do not try and track time outs remaining. There are far too many rules involved in time out tracking at different levels of basketball. Here is an excerpt from Wikipedia that only covers some of the rules --- they become even more varied at the local / youth levels:
In American college basketball, each team is allowed four 75-second and two 30-second timeouts per regulation game that is not televised. In televised college games, each team is granted one 60-second timeout and four 30-second timeouts per game in addition to the 4 media timeouts each half.[3]
In the American National Basketball Association, the rule on timeouts is more complex. Teams are allowed one 20-second timeout per half, and six regular timeouts, of one minute in length over the course of the entire game. During a 20-second timeout, only one player may be substituted. During a regular timeout, there is no limit on substitutions.
In the first and third quarter, there must be two 100-second timeouts. If neither team has taken a timeout prior to 6:00 of the first or third period, the Official Scorer must take it at the first dead ball and charge it to the home team. If no subsequent timeouts are taken prior to 3:00, the Official Scorer must take it and charge it to the team not previously charged.
In the second and fourth quarter, there must be three 100-second timeouts. If neither team has taken a timeout prior to 9:00 of the second or fourth period, a mandatory timeout will be called by the Official Scorer and charged to neither team. If there are no subsequent timeouts taken prior to 6:00, the Official Scorer must take it at the first dead ball and charge it to the home team. If no subsequent timeouts are taken prior to 3:00, the Official Scorer must take it and charge it to the team not previously charged. In the fourth quarter, teams are limited to a maximum of three timeouts and a maximum of two timeouts in the last two minutes of regulation play.
The Official Scorer shall notify a team when it has been charged with a mandatory timeout. Any additional timeouts in a period beyond those which are mandatory shall be 60 seconds.

Re: Time Outs Remaining
I understand that there are different rules but all score books have a place to either count them up or show the number left. I wouldnt expect that you have the variations on the time just the total amount at the beginning and as they were used it would allow you to see tbd ones remaining. It would be similar to the way fouls go from bonus to double bonus. Talk about different rules....

Re: Time Outs Remaining
We may add a way to count up the timeouts in a future release, but showing remaining is not likely going to happen. As you can see in the blurb in the previous post, the number remaining can change based on time in the game, not just the fact that one was used. And the way that the number remaining changes is not consistent from league to league.

Re: Time Outs Remaining
A program that I have used in the past, asks for the NUMBER of timeouts allowed per game or per half. Then just subtracts them...it doesn't worry about the length of them...just that you have 5 to start (high school) and subtracts one for the remaining TO's. It's nice if you are a coach on the bench to not have to run to the scorers table to find out how many you have remaining.
Re: Time Outs Remaining
I second the last post. Just give us the option in the setup of the game to enter total number of timeouts and then subtract. Too many variations from league games to tournament games on the count of each type (full, 20 or 30 second). Refs can tell me what type I have left. All I need to know is how many.
Re: Time Outs Remaining
I also agree that there should be some way to record the number of time outs allowed and the application should subtract and display the number of time outs left. Without this feature, this application is not usable for most scorekeepers and pushes us back to using paper.
Re: Time Outs Remaining
When will the timeout count be added to the application? Between this and fouls not displaying for all players will in either scoring mode I am forced to have a second person keeping track of these vital items to managing a game. I will most likely not use the app for my coming AAU season to eliminate the need for a second stat person.

Re: Time Outs Remaining
We have both ideas on our list of enhancements for future prioritization. We have to try and balance our workload based on customer requests, and right now it looks like momentum is shifting back to baseball. That is not to say we will not continue enhancing Basketball throughout the year, but we need to make sure we are putting our efforts in the right areas at the right times. Thank you.

Re: Time Outs Remaining
Keep in mind that AAU season is just starting for elite teams and these teams have the budgets to use your product more that most school teams. Many of the requests pending are items that would be heavily used by these club teams.
