Swinging Strike, Max Batters, Batter-by-Batter Short Summary

Post by bstoker » Mon May 30, 2011 7:01 am

Swinging Strike - I read on the forum that we can slide our finger up on the strike key and it will be a swinging strike. I think 2 buttons would be better. This is a good feature that is currently hard to figure out. Would also be nice to see pitcher stats with strikes looking and strikes swinging.

Pitcher Stats on Scoring Page - It currently shows balls, strikes, total pitches. Let's squeeze in BB, K, H, R. Yeah, I could flip to the stats page, but then I can't keep score.

Max 10 batters per inning - Can we add an option to set a limit for max batters per inning even if not 3 outs yet? Can we add a line or something to show the first batter of the inning? I'd like to know how many batters have been up in the inning. If we had Batter-by-Batter summary, that would show it well.

Batter-by-batter - Short summary of the inning and game - Coaches/Players/Parents often ask me what happened in the inning or game. I have to flip to the scorecard to see. That is a problem because I can't keep score while the parent is looking at the scorecard. We need it all jammed onto the scoring page. Instead of Play-by-Play, can we have Batter-by-Batter? Maybe would be good to be able to toggle between a Play-by-Play, Batter-by-Batter, Inning-by-Inning summary? Don't leave much white space, we need to pack in a lot of info. The current Play-by-Play wastes a lot of space.

Remove Pitch Location - Can we remove the pitch location from my IPad screen? I'd love to give more room to a Batter-by-Batter Summary and remove the pitch location area.

Click on Player to see stats and hit chart - Would be great to be able to use the Roster area more.

1) swiping the strike button for swinging strike is easy and a slick solution, adding another button unnecessarily eats up real estate. A case can be made there is room on the iPad but not for the iPhone but why would you use the real estate unnecessarily.

2) Good suggestion, flipping back and forth is generally pretty quick though.

3) I'm not sure I understand the request, is there a limit to the number of batters in your league or you want a notice that the lead off batter is at the plate a second time in one inning?

4) There is an innning recap button at the bottom right corner of the iPad. For the batter the info is on the screen i.e. BB, 1b etc for previous at bats.

5) There is an enhancement request to have the user ability to replace play by play and the pitch location areas with user preferences i.e. scorecard. I'm not sure where that stands in priority or if it is possible at all.

6) currently you can tap the player in the line up and get this info.

For #2 - you actually hit on why we show what we do show. This is a scorekeeping application, so we focus on what is needed to keep score. All the stats are available, but only the essentials for scorekeeping are always visible. Anything else is really a distraction from scorekeeping (i.e. you do not need to know BB, K, H, R for the current pitcher in order to keep score, but if you DO want to see them, they are one tap away).

For #3 (max batters per inning), you can use Misc -> End Inning when you have reached 10 batters. We allow you to score within your rules, but do not enforce the rules as there are far too many variations from league to league. The scorecard does show the diagonal line (and starts a new column of batters) when the inning starts.

For #4, we do intend to add additional views for the data in the Pitch by Pitch area on the iPad.

For #5, making pitch location optional goes along with #4.

For #6, not sure what you are asking... you can already tap the player on the lineup that is visible on the screen on the iPad to see their player card.

#6 is iPad centric, I think..it is the idea to .....allow tap on a player in the " line up quadrant" and get player card pop up.. Vs going to misc show starting line up or player manager..

#4&5 - cool..first I heard that this is 'moving up' on future features list..

I have an ipad and I'm all about getting the most use out of the real-estate.

Inning Summary (I hadn't noticed it before) needs to be updated with each at-bat. Plus we really need a batter-by-batter summary.

Touching on Player Name - yeah, you are right. It works. I tried before, but must have given up too quickly.

Max 10 batters per inning - Our 4th grade league only allows 10 batters per inning in the first 5 inning. Coach always asks me which batter we are on in the inning. I never know. I have to go to scorebook to count. Would be great to have a line/highlight in the roster on the scoring page to show the first batter. Or somewhere tell me, for example, that the current batter is the 9th batter in the inning.
