Quality at bats is quickly becoming one of the most important statistics in baseball. Just listen to Steve Springer from qualityatbats.com. Hitting the ball hard is a quality at bat no matter if it is caught. Helping your team by getting on base or moving runners are quality at bats also. If you don't want to add a button due to limited screen real estate then have a list on the option screen that users can check off if they would like a specific entry to also qualify as a quality at bat. Let the coach decide then when the event occurs it will be recorded. Since listening to Steve Springer's tapes in 2002, Jose Bautista goes in to every batter"s box only looking for a quality at bat. Many teams these days do not discuss batting averages anymore, just quality at bats.

When there is a clear definition that can be looked at on sites like espn.com, mlb.com, si.com, or any of the major sites about MLB players and going from site to site gives the same definition, then we will look at adding it.

As long as it is a subjective stat that everyone has their own definition of (just read the comments here about what it is and everyone has a different answer), then adding it is not going to be useful. We would still have people saying what about this or that.

Since it is subjective, you may as well just use notes and type "qab" as the note whenever you feel someone has done something of quality.

Identifying a list of criteria in the user settings that could be used to determine a QAB is probably the way to go with perhaps a ratio over PA. I can see where I would count hard/medium hits as a QAB but not an intentional walk. Perhaps throw in # pitches thrown as a QAB as well.
