Farm League

Post by akmolloy » Sat May 02, 2009 6:07 pm

Hi,

First off, the program is great, and from browsing the forum, the support appears to be top notch, especially how you add people's requests to your list so frequently.

This is my son's first year in little league, and he's in farm league, where the coaches pitch, and there are no balls, but the kids can strike out swinging.

I'm probably the only Dad around that wants to score these beginner types of games, so feel free to ignore my requests :-)

1. The batting order. Our league seems to be pretty low key and the coaches don't always have the lineup ready before the game. I've got all the players entered, but I'd really like to see a way to pick the current batter without using "skip batter". It takes too long if the next batter is way down on the list. Maybe allow us to hit the skip batter button and then select the next batter from the roster?

2. It's a useless stat probably, but I'd find it interesting if I could do actual balls/strikes in this league, which means there could be more than 4 balls if the kid doesn't swing.

3. Any chance of making the app recognize when the iPhone/iPod turns from portrait to landscape when looking at the stats?

The program was great. The coaches were so busy they didn't know the actual score and were impressed to see some of the stuff this thing could do. Thanks for making a great app at such a great price!

Believe it or not, another person requested similar info for his son's coach pitch league as well. I guess there are some competive young folks out there. :)

You should be able to click the lineup screen and put the batters in the correct order as they come to the plate. It is very helpful to have this done ahead of time, but you can make the changes as play progresses.

I believe we responded to the other person saying we would add the "more than 4 balls" idea as a setting, but it is going to be a very low priority as there are a lot of enhancement requests that will be beneficial to 90% of the users, and we are trying to accomodate the most people first, and will get to the requests that effect fewer people later.

The detecting of rotation is also a request that has come up a few times, and is high on our list.

Thank you, and please do keep the suggestions coming.

Thanks for the quick response!

OK I just had a huge "duh" moment. I re-watched the tutorial and realized you can drag the players around in the lineup. I was trying to do this, but wasn't touching the 3 horizontal lines. This will solve that problem for me quite easily.

If others mention they don't see this, you might consider changing that icon to an up/down arrow of some sort.

No problem on the unlimited balls option. For me I'll just mark 3 balls and that will show that the kid likes to watch a lot go by (or that the coach needs to work on his pitches) :-) Having more than 3 balls would make the scorecard weird.

Thanks again.
