Editing a game and synching stats (responded, awaiting user clarification back)

Post by smittydano » Tue May 30, 2017 9:56 am

I had a substitute score keeper this past weekend and he somehow attributed four errors to one play and when there was only one error. I tried going back to the Fielding Stats and correcting the errors for each individual, hit synch and the numbers went back to what they were before I edited. How can I edit hits, errors etc so that it is correct in team/game stats?

Not sure by your description, how you were trying to edit, ( "sync" would not be a part of the process, "sync" is used to 'sync' with MLB lineups if you have that optional subscription)
here is a link to a help page for different ways to edit post game..
http://iscoresports.com/baseball/kb/faq ... _edits.php

Here is an excerpt on Manual Editing, that sounds kinda like what you were trying to do...
#3 - You can edit the Stats directly by going to Game Manager, selecting the game, selecting Fielding Stats, then tapping on the fields you want to override and enter the new value.

Bold fields are calculated from other fields, and can not be edited directly. However, editing the non-bold fields that comprise a calculated field will update the calculated field.

You do not need to press the Recalc button because stats are automatically recalculated when you make your changes. You can add notes to the pitch by pitch for anyone reading along in the pitch by pitch or play by play to tell them what really happened.
However, I would recommend trying first to edit the play using the Pitch by Pitch (play by Play) Game Editor and then have it recaps the stats .. Here is a summery on it..
#1 You can go to Game Manager, select the game, select Pitch by Pitch, and tap the pitches where you need to make edits. You can change how base runners advanced, change hits to errors and vice versa, enter missed subsitutions or correct an invalid lineup, etc.

OK, I JUST REVIEWED THIS AND I NOW SEE THAT THE LINE-UPS FOR BOTH TEAMS ARE NOT ON THE SCORE CARD (THE THING THAT LOOKS LIKE AN ACTUAL BOOK). IT RECORDED EACH PLAY, BUT IT DOESNT HAVE EITHER TEAM'S BATTING ORDER. SO, I HAVE A NO HITTING OR FIELDING DATA SHOWING UP FOR THIS GAME.

IF YOU LOOK AT THE ISCORE PAGE, THE BATTING ORDERS ARE LISTED. FOR SOME REASON, THIS DIDNT TRANSFER OVER TO THE SCORECARD, WHICH DIDNT POPULATE THE STATS PAGE OR SCORECARD/BOOK.

HOW CAN I FIX THIS?

YOU DO NOT NEED ALL CAPS.

In a previous post you mentioned being on an OLDER version of the software. Have you updated to the most current supported version?

Ok, but why have you not updated to most recent version of iScore.? What version and type of device are you using ?

It seems you posted similar problem on a previous thread .. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=11907&p=48318#p48318. but did not reply back to my detailed follow up questions there.

that is OK, We can still try and troubleshoot this with you here (or on that thread). but being on an older version (version 3 for android), there may be hardware or software issues that can not be resolved with out updating to current version. we will need to be extra precise in our communication as button names and screen flow may have changed since your version (version 3 to 4 was a big jump in increased functionality and over 4 years old) .
  • For example I am not clear where you are looking when you said," I HAVE A NO HITTING OR FIELDING DATA SHOWING UP FOR THIS GAME." or " LOOK AT THE ISCORE PAGE", THE BATTING ORDERS ARE LISTED .. Some extra context to help me know where you are looking in the program (what screens or key strokes to get there) will help, (e.g. (Game Manager > Game > batting stats? or Game info Screen or Main Scoring Screen. etc.

to help you troubleshoot this ..
  • Lets go back to basics, and see where you are and what you are seeing? And try and fix
to start, ) On your handeld device, in iScore App, go to league manager and turn on (enable ) the special "ALL" league. This ensures no data hidden from view on your device.
1) in iscore select the game in question, and lets check your starting line up is correct..
  • a) Go to Game manager> select game > select game editor ( aka play-by-play or pitch-by-pitch editor) > select 'game start' activity, then tap 'edit starting line up' > now review the starting line up in detail to make sure both teams home and visitor are correct.
    b) Did this look right?? Report back to confirm that all players are in the starting line up listed correctly, and in the right batting order and with correct players having batting set to yes.
    c) This is critical, and likely the issue, the line up must be correct. it drives the scorecard and stats. If you see any issues, like double entered players, blank names, players on both teams. please Report back
2) next, lets force, the pdf scorecard to redraw itself. by re viewing it from the maim scoring screen...
  • a) go to game manager> select game> select "score game" (or "play") (button in upper right corner) to get to main scoring screen.
    b) at the Main scoring screen, make sure you have the " Game Over Message" .
    • If not, you need to formally "end the game", useing MISC Button and select END GAME
    c) do an UNDO and then REDO to force the program to recalc behind the scenes.
    d) While still at the main scoring screen, review the scorecard to see if better.. .. on a tablet, you should have an icon on bottom right of screen to view the scorecard, on a phone you may need to select the ' gear icon' on bottom right, then the scorecard icon to view the PDF scorecard
    e) . does the scorecard now look right?
3) Now lets force game stat recalc..
  • a) Exit out of main scoring screen back to 'game info' screen. and select batting stats and then select the recalc button ( upper right corner)..
(i.e. Game manager> select game> select batting stats > select recalc then choose all or save my edits.
    b) do these stats now look right?

4) now to finish, lets check on team stats
  • with game stats now fine, and the special "ALL" league enabled,
check team stats ( Team Manager > Select Team > Team Stats >) should reflect stats for all games played for this team and this roster. ,
if an issue with team stats, report back and we can trouble shoot that

Please reply back in detail your steps and findings ... and we can go from there

In the lower right hand corner of screen it shows 3.51.106. I am assuming that is the current version of iscore. If not, what do I do to update? How can I get iscore on my iphone without purchasing iscore again?

updates are free, just log into your google play store (or iTunes app store) with the same user ID that purchased the app the first time and you should get an update button. that is standard practice for both iOS and Android aps.

what device are you using?

I do not have an Android device to give you specific update instructions, but In generic terms. On your Android device you have a Google Play Store button or option in settings. ...Hit the menu button (three square dots) which is located at the top right hand side of the screen and select 'My Apps'. This menu is where you should see which apps are on your device and have available updates. Apps with an update available should be labeled "Update."
