Importing (responded)

Post by jdelmoral » Tue Jun 06, 2017 7:15 am

Is there a reason why i can't use the wifi hot spot from my cell phone to be able to import? I could have sworn i was able to last year but maybe that was just export. I have ATT and they have unlimited data so i would really like it if i didn't have to connect to a wifi to import. i can export fine. i get the verify internet connection error when i try.

If you have unlimited data with ATT, they do not allow you to use your cell phone as a hot spot anymore. I ran into the same thing, so I pay monthly to have my Ipad connect on cellular to use it for iscore now. I think it is $10 a month for my plan.

@mrj1172 - thank you for the info on ATT.

What kind of device? iPhone/Android? I would not have expected ATT to be able to differentiate between Option > Export and Option > Import on the hot spot, I figured hot spot was either on or off. but I defer to the direct users of ATT to know best. (on iPhone and Verizon, at one time there was a phone setting that enabled / disable based on your carrier plan and device/iOS, but i am not sure on how that works now on most current models/plans.)

@jdelmoral - Just a caution. I am not sure if you were using the term IMPORT loosely or specifically. If loosely, meaning retrieve rosters or games by discover or data share - got it . But if you meant specifically, Option > Import, I am surprised, option> Import should not be a common task, as it totally replaces your device database with your last Option > Export archived on the iscore servers. I would not expect you to option > import very often. .

I have a samsung galaxy Tab E that i use to score games.

i like to set up the games on the device i will be keeping score on and then export it to the iscorecentral.com admin site. then i go into the admin site and set up the location of the iscore game. Games>Scorecasts>location
then i import that information into the device i'm keeping score on. normally after that i just add the game, export the game after scoring it and continue to do so game after game.

That explains the need to import more frequently than most. you seem well aware of the Export/Import process and safeguards to make sure you do not inadvertently over write your data base .

and what device is your phone that has the hotspot issue? It sounds like you are going to need to talk to ATT about the Hot spot issue.
