TIP: How to Best Use "LEAGUES" and League Manager - FAQ
Re: "League" usage?
Please bear with me as I have just gotten iscore and am trying to learn. I've scored two previous games that I had recorded and think I'm ready to start using it ''real time" this weekend. I've read this topic from the OP and hope I understand how to use leagues. Tell me if I'm wrong, way off, on target, etc. Any info will help.
I want to have leagues for each tournament. The fall season starts this weekend and I want to keep each tournament in the "Fall 2012" League. 1st question is what all can you view under a "league". I want to be able to check/view what ever is possible in any individual game and/or tournament. I also want to be able to check/view everything for "Fall 2012".
Here's the BIG 2nd question. To do this I have to do the following: 1) Create roster for both teams under team manager; 2) Create a league called "Fall 2012" under league manager; 3) Create a league for the name of tournament {ex. Beat the Heat Tournament} under league manager; 3) Once line-up is created for both teams, go to league manager and ONLY check leagues "Fall 2012" and "Beat the Heat Tournament"; 4) go to game manager and click "leagues", then "Fall 2012", then "Beat the Heat" and tap "play ball".
If I understand this right, when you go to league manager on the device (I have Ipad 3) and click on the league, you wont see the game(s) listed there, this is only a place to "store" what happens during the game. If you want to see the box score, stats, etc on the device you have to go to game manager and tap on the game or go to the admin website.
Am I right, close or way off. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Re: "League" usage?
Leagues are simply a filter that can be applied to Teams, Games and Players. They only control what you see when only certain leagues are selected.
If you havent already, see this link and see if it helps any...I think you have a pretty good understanding, but this may clarify things some:

Re: "League" usage?
I want to have leagues for each tournament. The fall season starts this weekend and I want to keep each tournament in the "Fall 2012" League.
Here's the BIG 2nd question. To do this I have to do the following:
- All the same info, just filtered to only the selected leagues1st question is what all can you view under a "league".
- No problemI want to be able to check/view what ever is possible in any individual game and/or tournament.
- No Problem. Leagues are not 1:1, so you can assign many leagues to one game, then select how you want to view.I also want to be able to check/view everything for "Fall 2012".
Here's the BIG 2nd question. To do this I have to do the following:
- Yes1) Create roster for both teams under team manager;
- Yes2) Create a league called "Fall 2012" under league manager;
- Yes3) Create a league for the name of tournament {ex. Beat the Heat Tournament} under league manager;
- No, not necessary3) Once line-up is created for both teams, go to league manager and ONLY check leagues "Fall 2012" and "Beat the Heat Tournament";
- You can assign these leagues to your game at any time before, during or after. I usually add them when I create the game.4) go to game manager and click "leagues", then "Fall 2012", then "Beat the Heat" and tap "play ball".
- Not exactly, but kind of. You are correct, you wont see any stats here. League manager is where you create your leagues and set them. Based on which leagues are selected here, I will only see the corresponding games, teams, players and stats throughout the app. So if I have 20 games on my device and only 1 of those games is assigned to League "X"...with "All" selected in league manager, I would see 20 games in game manager. But, with only league "X' selected in league manager, I would only see 1 game in game manager. This is where many people start freaking out because they think they lost 19 games off their device.If I understand this right, when you go to league manager on the device (I have Ipad 3) and click on the league, you wont see the game(s) listed there, this is only a place to "store" what happens during the game. If you want to see the box score, stats, etc on the device you have to go to game manager and tap on the game or go to the admin website.

Re: "League" usage?
Thanks for the replys. I'll go to the link and read some more. It's starting to make a little sense.
Re: "League" usage?
I've just about got my head wrapped around it so just two more question...nah probably one of many to come but....I have created a Fall 2012 league and a Beat the Heat league (name of tourny this weekend). To get the box score, stats, etc do I have to check every team for both leagues or can I just check both leagues for my kid's team and only check the Beat the Heat league for all other teams? I was wondering if with just the Beat the Heat league checked for all teams and both leagues checked for her team if I could just use the Fall 2012 league for her team and still have everything from the other teams in the tourny leagues. Or, am I just over thinking all of this and need to check both leagues for ALL teams.
Since I'm creating leagues, do I need to keep the default league or can it be deleted? Nothing is in it at this time.
By the way this app is great. Practiced scoring the 2nd Alabama v Oklahoma and USA v Canada games...it was a lot easier than I thought. Only problem was trying to score everything and also do pitch location. Might have to use it a while before I do the pitch location.

Re: "League" usage?
For the stats, just make sure you put the GAMEs in the right leagues. The only time teams have to be in the right leagues is for a team website when you want to be sure the league appears in the dropdown on the team website.
You can delete the Default league if you are not using it.

Re: "League" usage?
Before I learned that you could put players in the lineup for an individual game without having to put them on the team roster first, I added several players to a team's roster that were playing in scrimmage games as part of their tryout process. Some of them are not staying with the team, so I don't want to have them appearing in the roster every time I start a new game.OhioTex wrote: but do not delete players, if you want to hide them, assign them to a 'other players league' (empahsis, best to not delete players or teams or games, better to hide them in leagues)
I tried to hide them as suggested by assigning the players to an 'other players' league, and they don't appear under Player Manager when the real league is selected. However, if I go to Team Manager, pick the team, press Roster, they still show on the roster. If I go to Game Manager and set up a new game, select an appropriate league, and press Play, the players I don't want to see still show in the roster.
Would it be OK to go to the Team Manager roster page and use the "Remove From Roster" function? (I guess I'm being overly cautious and lumping that action into the "do not delete" warning above). If I do remove the player from the roster, would it still be possible to set the Leagues in such a way that I could still see those players' stats at some point in the future?

Re: "League" usage?
another question I didn't see covered in this thread:
My DD is on her MS feeder team (e.g. League: FL) and on a travel team (e.g. League: TL). I'm successfully using the League feature to keep stats reported separately. I know that later in the fall many of the girls from FL opponents that I have stats on will be on the travel teams that we face. So, when I'm creating the rosters for the travel teams I will want the FL box checked so that I can see all the players in the player list and select existing players whenever possible, so that stats from FL and TL will associate with the same player.
My question is: once I get into a game, will I need to leave the FL box checked in League Manager during the game so that the spray chart that appears at the beginning of each at-bat will show data from the player's FL games, or will iScore always show me all of a player's hits at that point, regardless of what Leagues are selected in League Manager?

Re: "League" usage?
The in game hit charts do filter by the currently selected leagues. We would suggest just leaving "ALL" selected while scoring a game so you can see all the batting history for all players. When you go to run your reports, then filter by the league(s) you want to see.
