Total Score doesn't match Player Stats

Post by scottc » Thu Feb 09, 2012 8:33 am

I scored a game in Game mode, double-checked the final score and fouls for accuracy, and finished the game. However, the points on the individual player stats don't add up to the total game score. On the play-by-play, some scores were recorded while the clock did not change. Those scores do not show up in the individual player stats. I tried to "Adjust" the players, but then that made the total game score incorrect.

My Guess: I was in a time out, then started scoring again without pressing "Done" on the time out. I do not use the running time, so the clock does not matter to me at all.

The App allowed me to continue scoring, so the stats should still calculate correctly.

How can I make all play-by-play activity show up in the individual player stats? Any advice on how to fix would be much appreciated.

Entering scoring plays while the clock is stopped is fine. There are two ways player scores can not add up to the total. One is if you enter baskets without a player selected... maybe you didn't see who made the shot, but you still entered the basket. The other would be if you adjusted the score directly by double tapping the scoreboard and changing the score. Both of these things would show up in the Play by Play.

If you still think there is s discrepancy, you can do an Options -> Export from within iScore, and email us your Customer ID (found on Options screen) to support@iscoresports.com and let us know which game you are having questions about, and we can look at your data.

As long as I've been using iScore, my basketball box score totals have never matched up correctly with the team totals. Below is a sample from our last basketball game on 2/10/12. You will see that the box score shows that St. Clement scored 55 pts, but they really only scored 53 pts. Likewise, St. Gerard only scored 39 pts, but the box score shows 43, which is incorrect. This anomaly could be caused when I make adjustments during the game or after it has ended, but this problem needs to be corrected in the program asap. I don't understand why this issue has never been addresses and fixed.

We can not troubleshoot from this information but if you follow the instructions we gave in the previous post, we can take a look at how you scored the game.

I saw your post, but you really didn't provide any instructions to your users. I didn't do either of those two things that you described. The only way that I can adjust a player's score is to (1) click on the "adjust" tab on the game screen, (2) click on the player's number, and then (3) make the appropriate point change for that player. In other words, I cannot (or do not) enter a basket without selecting a player first. I also never adjust the score manually by directly tapping the scoreboard and changing the score; otherwise a player would not get credit for his basket. Sorry, I just think you have a bug, but you are not aware of how to fix or address it. You also should have a way to export a game that will allow you to diagnose a problem.

We do have a way to export and diagnose and it is what we asked you to do. Here it is again:

You can do an Options -> Export from within iScore, and email us your Customer ID (found on Options screen) to support@iscoresports.com and let us know which game you are having questions about, and we can look at your data.

4Hockey, a quick review of posts in this forum will provide you a quick answer to the level of customer service from FTM. In a word it is outstanding. They do have a way to analyze your data but YOU need to export the data for them to review. They have assisted countless iScore users via analysis of the data sent.

1. Tap on the iScore basketball icon on your device, the opening screen says ESPN iScore Basketball
2. Tap on options located at the bottom of the right hand column of choices on that same screen
3. Now that you have tapped options the new screen will have 2 icons at the bottom of each corner EXPORT and IMPORT
4. Tap the EXPORT button
5. confirm EXPORT, tapping OK
6. Now FTM requires your Customer ID which is also found on the options screen that has the EXPORT and IMPORT buttons
7. Tap the Admin Website button
8. Write down the sequence of letter and numbers found under User
9. Go to your email to write a new email
10. type in support@iscoresports.com
11. In the text area of your email type in your user id and a brief description of your issue. Perhaps copy and paste your posts in this thread.

FTM will review your data and get back to you pretty quick.

When ever I've had the problem where the team score is higher than the sum of the player totals, I made a data entry error somewhere in the game and it was usually a place where I tried an undo and then rescore. Look through the play-by-play for a situation where consecutive plays look practically identical or a place where the running score changed, but there was no scoring play listed. My guess is that deleting the play where this occurred will fix your problem.

This happened to me in yesterday's game where there were 2 extra points in the final score. Near the end of the 1st quarter I had a +2 with assist occurr but I didn't have the assisting player in the game. I first tried to substitute him in quickly, didn't work, hit undo, then subbed him in, then scored it correctly. After the game, I found the play was essentially scored twice. Deleted the first of the two plays and problem solved. Other times, I've credited a basket without assigning it to a player, look for a place in the play-by-play where running scoring changes for no reason & then delete that play to fix it again.

In my experience, the problem isn't necessarily the app but the user (me) and his fat fingers that tap the wrong buttons.

Hope this helps, and if it doesn't, FTM will come to the rescue for you.
