Version 2.20.56?

Post by dlcrow » Tue Dec 01, 2009 1:46 pm

The iScore version on my iPhones shows 2.20.56 and iTunes is showing that I have an update available for version 2.11. The App Store app on the iPhone also shows the same update available.

When I update in iTunes, the file downloads, an iScore 2.20.ipa ends up in my Recycle Bin, but nothing is queued to update on my iPhone and iTunes still shows the need to update iScore.

When I update in the App Store app, it downloads ("Loading..." in place of the app name under the app icon) and installs ('Installing..." in the same place), and the pending updates icon decorator for the App Store app is temporarily removed.

I'm not sure what the deal is between the 2.11 and 2.20 version numbers or why things think I need to update.

Thoughts?

BTW, this is the most awesomest app ever! It has become an invaluable part of our 13 year old baseball team and definitely gives us a competitive advantage (nothing I wasn't already doing on paper, but it is such a time saver that I can spend more time on other coaching activities and less on accumulating stats and tendencies). I had an opposing coach offer to pay me to score his next game!

Sorry for the confusion with the version numbers.

We initially submitted version 2.11 to Apple, and they rejected it saying we used an undocumented API for a date function (something we had been using for a long time).

We then had to resubmit version 2.20.56, but Apple did not allow us to update the version number in iTunes.

Therefore, the version number in the App Store is 2.11, and the version that will show on the main menu screen is 2.20.56.

We don't believe your update troubles with iTunes are related to the version numbers however. Sometimes when a new version is released, iTunes is slow to update their servers and it causes the Update to keep appearing. We have seen the "update available" not going away with several applications on our devices lately.

If you have version 2.20.56 on your device, you are up to date even if Apple says there is an update available.

Let us know if you continue having troubles.

Thank you.
