Fielding > Appearances stats incorrect after Misc > End Game

I recently noticed that when a game ends early, either due to run rule or time limit, the appearances numbers by player are inflated by one.

For example, yesterday we were home team and at the end of the 5th (we play 6 innings or 1:45) the time limit had run out, so I selected Misc > End Game as I have many times before.

But with the recording of the last out of the 5th, iScore automatically advanced to the 6th inning, which recorded an additional appearance for all the boys that played defense in the top of the 5th. With balancing playing time being a big deal in youth baseball, I'd like to figure out how to avoid this.

Is there something I need to do differently?

Or, perhaps the baseball app can borrow a concept from the basketball app where when a period ends, a button appears for starting the next period. In that case, after the last out of the 5th (or even in the middle of the inning), selecting Misc > End Game will act on the half inning just completed, rather than having an event recorded for the next half inning first and then ending the game.

Thanks!

P.S. I LOVE both iScore Baseball and iScore Basketball!!

We will add this issue to our enhancement list. Thank you.

OK, thanks.

BTW, I did just figure out a workaround in the meantime...
1) I went back to the scoring screen and undid the last two events...the Game Over event, and the event for the last out.
2) I opened the Options from the gear icon in the lower-hand corner and changed the # of innings (in this case, 5)
3) Then I re-scored the last out, and iScore automatically ended the game at the bottom of the 5th. When I left the scoring screen and reviewed the Fielding statistics, there were now 5 at each position instead of 6.

There's a caveat...iScore remembers that number of innings setting. So, while I was thinking about it now, I created our next game, and in the Options I reset the # of innings to 6.

As for the enhancement, the button would be a manual way of handling it, but isn't preferred.

I see from the forum that you have an enhancement for configuring mercy rules and having the app automatically end the game, accordingly. That would be great.

The other underlying issue here is the time limit. If would be great if the app could also automatically detect expiration of the time limit and end the game, but to really make that work correctly, we'd also need the ability to manually set the official start time of the game, rather than just going off of when I push the Play button. Many times umpires will set an official start time that is already past by 5 minutes or more.

Thanks!

We will not likely be adding a time limit to the games, or settings for the mercy rules, as there are too many variations to be able to handle all of them. We do have the Misc -> End Game option that can be used at any time if whatever the local rules say should end a game occurs, and that can be used with any of the situations.

OK, I can understand that there can be a lot of complexity to mercy/time limit rules. I hope that you will still consider adding some sort of "start inning" button that can be used to avoid the statistical problem with which I started this topic.

Thanks.

We believe that can be fixed without requiring a start inning button. Would just need to not count an appearance until at least one pitch is thrown in the inning.

Ah, perfect. I look forward to it being in an upcoming update. Thanks for all the quick replies!

A related issue is that if you select "end game" after the bottom of a complete inning, the box score shows a zero in the top half of the next inning that was not started.

Thank you

Another spring season is about to start...any chance this is on the radar to be fixed?

Thanks.
