Hit Spray Chart not filtered by leagues

Post by tmccombs » Thu Feb 11, 2010 9:02 pm

When looking at the cumulative hitting chart in the player card it does not seem to be filtered by the current league. When I created a new league for the spring 2010 season and toggled that league as the only one active in league manager, the player card stats reflected nothing (as expected since no games have been played) but the hitting chart showed all hit locations for every game on the device. Not sure if this is by design, but the field will become very crowded and eventually unusable. Maybe I am doing something wrong? Thank you

We debated this a bit when we put the feature in, and decided for hit locations, people may want to see all previous at bats no matter what the league selection is as a person's hitting style is not necessarily tied to a particular league.

However, we can see arguments both ways.

What do the members of the iScore community think? We can definitely change it to filter only by the selected league(s) as stats do.

Let us know in this thread, and if it appears most people would prefer league filtering, we can modify it to work that way for a future release.

Thank you.

I vote for League enabled..
why..
a) because that is how stats are done and
b) most importantly, it gives the user maximum flexibility..

if leagues are enabled, a user can choose what works best for them. If one likes seeing all history, we could do that by enabling all leagues, but If one is just interested in seeing a slice, we can not now.. ie i am interested in what kid did this year, not last year.. they have changed in a year.

How about it first shows you filtered to active leagues and then if you hit a toggle it shows unfiltered?

Just a thought. :)

I agree, League-enabled. If I want to compare the charts with the stats, then I would assume they all work the same way. There's always ways to see everything even with the League filtering (using the "All" league for example).

Looks pretty overwhelming... we will modify it to work based on Leagues for the next release.

We also plan to add filters for "Last 10", "Last 25", "All" so you can narow it down to just see the most recent at bats, or all time if that is what you would like.

Thank you for your responses.

On a similar note, when games are deleted from the game manager the stats are removed but the hit locations from that deleted games(s) are still reflected in the spray chart.

Both of these items are fixed in a small update we submitted to Apple a couple days ago.

Thank you.
