"Logging In" iOS v 5.102

Post by Joe Siegler » Fri Jan 19, 2018 3:58 pm

I got the new iOS update yesterday (and the update to the update today) as well.

There's a new "Sign In" option at the top which wasn't there before. Referring to this: https://imgur.com/a/LHpC1

So OK, I tried signing in, and none of my existing account info worked there. I tried retrieving the password, and got told there isn't one (for the email I always use). OK. I'll try that "Send Magic Link", which didn't work, either. Not a huge surprise, I suppose. However, the email came from "Sports Illustrated Play". What is that? When I first bought this app, it was branded by ESPN. Then it wasn't. Now it's under SI's banner now?

Anyway, back to logging in. I have existing accounts on this forum here & the account at my.iscorecentral.com. None of those credentials work, so what am I logging into here? There doesn't appear to be a way to create a new account, either.

Basically, what is this new account for? Am I missing something here?

iScore has now been part of Sports Illustrated Play for 3 years. This is the first attempt to integrate the product into the SI Play infrastructure. If you enter an email address that does not already exist in the system, it will give you a chance to create a new account (big red "Create Account" button). This new account allows you to share your iScore Central subscription (if you have one) to watch the live iScorecasts from within the iScore app (instead of requiring a separate application). Soon it will also allow easier integration for users that are also using the Sports Illustrated Play league management system.

It will not be useful to all users, but for those that it is useful for, it is going to simplify things a lot.

Where is this "Create Account" button? It's not on the screen I see in the app after I enter my password, and it's not in the password reset email, either. See attached:

I'm happy to create an account, but I'm not sure how to do it.

As for the SI issue, I didn't notice that. It doesn't matter really. Just noticed it today.

Joe
Did u get this resolved?

Looking at your images.. you should probably enmail login@siplay.com for help

When you typed in your email in the sign in screen, it should have bounced you to the screen with 'create account button' not the 'reset password' as your email should have been new to it

(This is the account and password one would have created using the iscore central viewer app (blue icon).. or the siplay app (white icon).

As you noted in your first post, and support confirmed. it is different than the enail account/password you woukd have previously set inside the baseball scoreing app (green icon) using option> register or on my.iscorecentral.com

Hope this helps clarify or make more sense ...

I did not get it resolved, it remains open, since nobody said anything after the 19th.

There's no way I can find to create a new account anywhere.

We believe the issue may exist for users that have created accounts in iScore Central only. Do you recall creating an account in the iScore Central application and just do not remember the password for it?

If I did, it was a couple of years ago, and no longer recall doing that, or what the password might be. Entirely possible, but I'd be liar if I said I remember that well.

I tried all my regular passwords I used to use years ago in the age of "poor password management" (before I got my act together), and none of those worked.

I did notice once when I mistyped my email address I got a "create account" button, so obviously the system thinks my email address exists. But a password recovery generates an email telling me they don't recognize that email address (screenshots in OP).

Joe. I know support is working on this .. trying to rationalize the history of different account/password servers

here Are a Couple workaround ideas i had..

I hope #1 works # 2 more a hail mary

1) download the free iscore central viewer app (blue icon).. go to menu in upper left corner .. and then try sign in there w your email and password reset

2) Another idea , On a computer.. go to identity.siplay.com...and try your email and password reset there

Alternatively, you could download the free siplay app (white icon) and sign in there with email and password reset. But my since is it would behave like the iscore green app as it has the 'magic' link screen like you described.

Perhaps one of those two ways works and then works on green app

( i have both above working and suspect somehow behind the scenes that is why i can log in on green icon app)

Just trying ideas to see if can 'workaround' while developers solve systemically

1) The problem is that when I try to register, I get told my email exists already. When I try to recover the password, the system says the email doesn't exist. I'm stuck there.

2) Going to that URL generates an error: https://imgur.com/a/XG42C

Regarding #1, I suppose I could just use a different email address, but the one I was trying to use is my primary/daily driver. I would prefer to get that working if at all possible.

UPDATE:

I was finally able to get logged in. I just gave up on the app, and went to siplay.com - and after another recover password told me I didn't exist, I tried creating an account there. That worked finally. Got logged in.
