Editing stats post game (replied, awaiting user response back)

Post by brotherhoodsoftball » Tue Jul 11, 2017 7:47 am

Trying to figure out how to edit stats post game for mistakes made during scorekeeping with the new version of the app. I have a scenario where a single was recorded instead of a double. In the play by play, it won't let me change it to a double after the game is complete. I used to be able to go into the team stats and edit the players totals but the new app doesn't seem to allow that anymore. Can you advise how that is done now?

1) what app are you using Android or iOS and what version?
  • neither has changed how they handle editing in many years... you can still manually over ride stats and you can not change a base hit to a double, neither is a change.
2) play by play / pitch by pitch - Game Editor
  • you are correct, in play editor, you can not change a single to a double. (you can change a double to a single with error but not a single to a double, i.e. there is no way to add a base). Not every situation in a game can be edited post game because as you know in baseball, plays are interrelated, the outcome of one impacts the next. only allowed to edit plays that do not materially change the future of the game are allowed. Adding a base after the fact is considered a material change that is not allowed. for more information see this related thread viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3795
3) depending on your situation, you can undo back to the event and rescore from there or make a note on the play in game editor, and manually override stats.
  • Manual Stat Override
You can edit the Stats directly by going to Game Manager, selecting the game, selecting Batting Stats, then tapping on the fields you want to override and enter the new value. (in this case change a 1B to 2B) Bold fields are calculated from other fields, and can not be edited directly. However, editing the non-bold fields that comprise a calculated field will update the calculated field. You do not need to press the Recalc button because stats are automatically recalculated when you make your changes. You can add notes to the pitch by pitch for anyone reading along in the pitch by pitch or play by play to tell them what really happened.
for more information see these related threads viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3115

You can also rescore the complete game. This is not as hard as it sounds. If you have the Scorecard and Play by Play visible while rescoring the game, you can enter it very fast, and it is good practice as well.
