ScoreCast sync

I’ve noticed this issue only since switching from a 3G iPhone connection to a Wi-Fi only iPhone (turned off the phone service so it’s basically an iTouch). As seems to happen with Wi-Fi on the iPhone, it drops a lot and I lose sync with my Scorecast. I’ve been exiting the scoring screen and hitting the “i-ScoreCast Synchronize” button. Not only does the syncing take a couple of minutes but it seems to incorrectly report the hit and error totals on the ScoreCast screen. The other day I had to sync at least 4 times during a game and by the end of the game both teams were near triple digits in hits and had well over a dozen errors each. The totals seemed to correct themselves after the game ended but I was wondering if there was a fix for this since the run totals seem to sync just fine. Thanks.

We will have to look into this issue... we have not heard it before. Are you saying that if you do the "i-ScoreCast Syncrhonize" while someone is viewing the scorecast online, the hit and error totals start doubling up? If you refresh the iScorecast screen, do they then correct themselves?
Running a game live does require a pretty good internet connection for it to be reliable. The 3G seems to work very well. If you WiFi signal is weak, then we could see where there could be problems because of "skipped events". Basically, the iScorecast system numbers each event, and expects to get them in order. It can handle an occassional lost event just fine, but once it skips an event, it does not go back and pick the old event up until a refresh. The current score will always be correct because it gets sent as part of the "state" of the game, but errors and hits have to be calculated based on the data the scorecast server has received. We would not expect the hits/errors to double up though... so will look into this further.
Thank you.

Thanks for the response back. I wasn’t sure if the hits and errors correct themselves after hitting refresh and was going to try it tonight but my Wi-Fi connection was worse than ever and I ended up giving up on score casting it live.
I agree that the 3G connection is much better. I’m using my 3GS to video stream the games and will probably just be better off waiting for my 3G iPad to live cast the games on.
