Unable to make certain edits to fix errors in scoring (Resolved - Use Manual Override to Adjust)

Post by _david_aaron » Sat Mar 18, 2017 4:15 pm

At our last game, a friend kept score for us who wasn't totally familiar with the iScore app. For the most part he scored the game fine, but there were a few instances where things got messed up. A lot of these I was able to fix by going into the "PLAY BY PLAY / EDIT GAME" screen and making the necessary changes. However, there were some things that the app would not let me fix.

The biggest issue happened in the 3rd inning. What happened in real life was: with runners on 1B and 2B, our #5 hitter hit a double, scoring the runner on 2B and moving the other runner to 3B. The scorekeeper somehow recorded what happened to the runners in this at bat, but without recording the double itself; so that when the #6 batter then came to the plate, iScore still showed the #5 hitter as being up. Therefore, what the #6 batter did was credited to the #5 batter; what the #7 batter did was credited to the #6 batter; and so on until the scorekeeper realized what had happened and just skipped a batter in the order to get the correct batter up again.

When I go into the Details screen, from "PLAY BY PLAY / EDIT GAME", for the play where the problem started, I can't see any way to fix the problem.

If anyone has a fix for this issue, please let me know. If it's possible to upload screenshots or a play-by-play file here, I will do so; I don't see anywhere to do that here though.

Welcome to the forum

Unfortuneatly as you know, best to keep up as you go... if he totally missed a batter hitting the double.. not really a way to use edit to 'insert' such an event. If scorer had just assigned to wrong person you can fix with post edit subs, but not a totally missed batter.

That said , there are a couple things you can do but all have tradeoffs. Depending on what you value most.. example .. clean scorecard, clean play by play , or clean stats.

If all you care about is stats. The easiest way is to use 'manual stat override' if you want pristine scorecard your best bet is to email yourself the play by play and re score

Hi OhioTex, thanks for your reply. I guess at this point the most important thing is clean stats. I've been really busy the past couple of weeks with a new job, but I'll look into the manual stat override when I have the chance.

manual stat over ride is pretty easy and quick. simply select batting stats for your team for the game in question and edit.

If all you need to do is add a double to a player, here is how:
  • 1) select stats - device > iscore > game manager > select game > select batting Stats for your team
    2) Add a double - find the row & column intersection for the "Batter" and the "2B" stat, add a double (i.e. increment a 0 to 1.) hit return. Manual stats will show in Red.
    3) Check and correct if need the "PA" stats - find the "PA" stat and see if you need to increment by 1. (the AB and H stat will automatically math calculate, but on some devices you need to also manually add a PA)
that is really all you need to do to fix a simple missed double batter stat

here is more explanation from training manual
  • You can edit the Stats directly by going to Game Manager, selecting the game, selecting Batting Stats, then tapping on the fields you want to override and enter the new value. Bold fields are calculated from other fields, and can not be edited directly. However, editing the non-bold fields that comprise a calculated field will update the calculated field. You do not need to press the Recalc button because stats are automatically recalculated when you make your changes. You can add notes to the pitch by pitch for anyone reading along in the pitch by pitch or play by play to tell them what really happened.
and Here is the thread i mentioned before for more discussion on manual stat override
