Unable to add more batters (resolved)

Post by barkmo » Sun Mar 12, 2017 9:34 am

Here is what happened, it might be that I am doing something wrong. I have no lineups prior to the game start but I have both teams roster. As the PA announces the other teams starters I get the first three entered but can't go fast enough for the rest. So as the game starts the first three batters come to the plate and everything works fine. Then as the number four batter comes to the plate I no longer have the option of adding a batter. I can only sub the number one batter out. What do I need to do other than not put the battery in the lineup before the game starts?

Welcome to iScore

Your situation, no line up in advance, is very common and scorers deal with it daily with ease once they understanf how.

We will glady walk you through your issue and how to correct. Post back w questions. . if you have not already, i suggest reviewing the user manual and training info.. links are below in my signature. Read up on quick roster and starting line ups and substitutions .

The program is flexible by design so it lets you bat as many (or few) players as you need. Eg bat all, 8, 9,10 Etc. . But the program needs to know the number batting BEFORE it turns over the line up, (i.e, before lead off batter bats twice). In your case it assumed 3 man line up .

You set the line up when the game starts, by setting the players batting to = yes. If you don't have any advance roster info, it is common yoset the batter and on deck batter as you see them bat using "Misc > set starting line up". If you don't have any info on opponent, Use quick roster to create generic player 1-x, and set the first 9 to bat. Then As game goes on you can edit the starting roster names and jersey number (with misc > show starting line). Again the key is to get number batting right before line up turns over. (Eg 9 in mlb)

Some tips to help you better understand the program .

The computer internally tracks batter 3 did xyz. You just tell it who batter 3 is. The program creates a unigue player id under the covers fir each player, allowing you to rename the player as you go. (Eg from player 3 to 27 mike trout). The program cares about where in line up position they bat, but lets you change that as you learn. . Example you know bryce harper , mike trout and kris bryant all batting just dont know order. , set each to batting = yes to start. Then just drag up /down players in line up to correct position as game unfolds (using misc > show starting line up"). Take care to get the number batting corect while scoring, and realize you can edit names and move slots as you go or even post game. The computer internally tracks home team batter 3 did xyz. You just tell it batter 3 is mike trout.

Hope makes sense. Feel free to post back

Thank you so much. My problem was that I didn't see the 'show starting lineup' in the misc screen. Your quick and thoughtful reply is much appreciated.

So your issues are resolved. Great.

PS i do wish that menu item (misc > show starting line up) was a bit more obvious and accessible given how often it is used ..

You may recall that when Show Starting Lineup was more readily available we had too many users using it to do substitutions. Since moving it deeper, we have FAR fewer support issues as a result.
