well maybe my question should be, if i lost a team from a merge, can i recreate it and link it to the past games with the same team name, players and league?

You can not change the team a game was scored for. You can re-score the game selecting new teams and using the scorecard from the already scored game to re-enter the data (takes 15-20 minutes for experienced iScore user to do this), but there is not a way to change the team.

No. that was stated in part of the very original response. Merge is not reversible.

I do not want to cut you off, or make you despondent.. Want to help... the more precise you can be describing your setup and steps, .. the more helpful we can be..

If we need to go back to square 1. we can...
This thread started with a inadvertent Merge .... you said you were able to recover back (by option > import) to a time before your inadvertent merge issue. . So things should be fine. but if not, let us know, , you have not explained what you have done since or what you are trying to do .. I am sure you are frustrated, but we want you to enjoy the use of iScore.

some context/ history will help . the more precise the better.
do you have 1 or 2 teams? , aka TEAM2016 and a separate team for TEAM2017 . If so, is everything for TEAM2016 OK. , i.e. can the games and stats for 2016 all look correct.. If so then we can move on to 2017, where do you stand.. . did you create a new team, aka TEAM2017, or are you trying to reuseTEAM 2016 ? have you scored any games with that 2017 team yet?

i select just the 2016 league and i see the games and the teams.
" recreate it (team)" in above statement concerns me..... Are you saying, when you Option > imported, you did not recover back to a point in time before you had your " Merge Issues"? if so, then that is an big issue for 2016, but it does not have to impact 2017 Team.

to create a new team for 2017, turn on All League in League manager , then go to Team Manager, Create New Team, Fill in team info, Go to Roster, Say no to quick roster, and then just add players by creating new player or picking from existing player list . you do not need to involve MERGE, nor your 2016 team.

once you are happy your 2017Team is set up and you are ready to go to score this season, then if you want, we can try and see what we can do (if anything) about you orphaned 2016 games . Lets keep that issue separate from 2017.

what i did was to rename the HS Varsity name to HS Varsity 2017 and deleted the players that are not on that team anymore, then created a new team HS Varsity 2016 and added tried to merge the players from the 2017 back into the 2016 team(before setting up leagues) that's when i lost the 2017 team.
So i had to recreate the 2017 team all over and the 2016 team has no stats, just games.
The teams must have a unique ID(#) stored somewhere in the background of the app and when you delete the team one way or another, the unique ID gets dropped even though the name is the same. So i guess this means you can have teams named the same but are different to Iscore. I was hoping the team name was a key. My bad.
I've learned a few things that are good moving forward. Too bad you can't override this when you really want to link teams to games. But that could cause a lot of other problems with the players info.
Can this be fixed from the website and not on the phone?
thanks all

Yes , teams, and players, all have unique IDs under the covers that the computer tracks them by.. (the human readable name is just for our benefit - this is mentioned many places on the forum and in the user manual, you can imagine why, as there are many John Smiths out there, and in youth ball, not uncommon to play teams with same names..)

I am still unclear on the timeline how / when you lost the "original2016 team" aka "HS Varsity".. .. and if the "Original 2016 team" still exists somewhere. (you said you did not delete teams).. I understand, original "HS Varsity" team ... got "renamed 'HS Varsity 2017".... (got it) but what happened next?. (i understand you moved players, but i am focused on the team) ... did you try and merge "renamed 'HS Varsity 2017" team (on right) with a "newly created 2016 team" (on left) .... if so, then unfortuneately,,, you lost the underlying ID of the "renamed "HS Varsity 2017" (aka your "original 2016 team") and in the process "orphaned" the games scored with the "original 2016 team).

any chance your last option > export was BEFORE you did the team merge? . If so, then the way to recover is by Option > Import .

If not, Send me an email <email address removed>> and we can try an idea i have offline. (no promise, but wondering if we can data share the team. to a third device, and in the process, re ID it and then data share back to your device.. )

@ support may want to jump in if they have a solve

@GLMSAS11 - not sure if you were able to resolve on your own..

@ Support - if a user option Exported and emailed support with ID and info, Is there a way support can resurrect a lost Team? Wondering if somehow support could read a team ID off a scored game, and then Create a new Team with the required ID in database and then let user option import back to their device. (the user would then have to assign the right players to roster of new team of course) but was wondering if that could resurrect a lost team..

not sure if technically possible. Just tossing out ideas

In some cases that would be possible, but it does not sound like it would apply in this case.
