Pitcher stats importing issue (answered, pending user followup if needed)
Pitcher stats importing issue (answered, pending user followup if needed)
Hi,
I was using your data import feature to bring some stats in for a team. The batting and fielding portion worked fine but when I tried to do the pitching, the ERA wasn't being calculated correctly. A pitcher with an ERA of 1.50 would have a 0.75 after the import. All pitchers were affected. I ended up manually entering the stats and they calculated perfectly. So, I think there is something that isn't correct. I can send you the CSV file I was using. Let me know if you need it.
Thanks
Tony

Re: Pitcher stats importing issue
I don't have access to the csv file but a thought crossed my mind when i first saw this post
I assume you are taking about era9 calcualtion.. There are two era numbers ,ERA9 and ERA
The standard ERA9 uses 9 innings
The other ERA uses the # innings you set in game options.. (Perhaps that is set to somthing other than 9).
Also. Just for my curiosity/understanding .. Which method (steps) are you using to 'import' the stats...

Re: Pitcher stats importing issue
We are replying to your message to us, but OhioTex is correct that the ERA9 is calculating correctly with your data.
The issue is that you are supplying a single row for multiple games pitched, and not supplying a "pit_game_innings" value. So it is defaulting to 9 innings, and dividing that by the number of games to determine the innings per game which is used in the "ERA" calculating. If you start including a "pit_game_innings" value in your import (which would be 18 when supplying 2 x 9 inning games, 27 when supply 3 x 9 inning games, etc), then the ERA value will match the ERA9 value.

Re: Pitcher stats importing issue
I may have been 'close' in that it is related to ERA9 vs ERA#.. But had no idea the solve..
In fact i am still behind in how this all is working... Was hoping someone could describe the process steps for any forum readers education ( and selfishly my own)
@Afjb
Did this resolve your problem?
Can you describe for others benefit what process you are doing..

Re: Pitcher stats importing issue
Thanks everyone. Yes, the ERA9 is calculating the ERA correctly, so I can just use that field moving forward.
OhioTex - I am taking my existing data in Excel (using games such as APBA and Strat) and converting it to a CSV file using the sample file on the iScore Central web site. I do some copying and pasting to make sure the columns are correct. I don't use every column in the sample file, just the ones pertinent to my stat keeping. I then log into my admin account and import the CSV file corresponding to the team. I map the correct player when necessary and then import it.
Then I import the database back on my iPad and check the data. You have to set the League manager to "all" and then select Game Manager. The "game" with the stats just imported is usually at the bottom of the list. I can check the data there to make sure it imported ok. I then change the league associated with that game to the league the team is in. Finally, I export back to the server and I'm all set. It sounds like a lot of steps but it's a lot easier than manually entering data on the iPad.
I wasn't aware of how the ERA was calculating vs the ERA9, so I wasn't importing a "pit_game_innings" value, hence my error.
Thanks again.
