Courtesy runner reverting

Post by ChicagoShep » Thu Apr 21, 2016 6:23 pm

In two games this week, I have noticed that courtesy runners that I'm assigning are reverting to the original runner on the display after advancing. So if I give Johnny a courtesy runner, Billy, and Billy steals a base or otherwise advances, Johnny shows up on second base. And yes, it was appearing correctly until that point. Could I be doing something wrong, or is it a possible bug?

We have not seen this issue. What version of iScore are you using (title screen in iScore shows version), and what type of device are you running on?

We just created a new game, had the first batter hit a single, tapped the Runner at first, selected Courtesy Runner, selected the last player in the roster. Then entered a ball, tapped the runner on first, tapped Safe, Second, Stolen Base, and the runner correctly stayed as the courtesy runner.

Do you have an exact set of steps like the above that causes the courtesy runner to change?

I went back and looked at the situations in which it happened and it seems to be when there are walks and then a courtesy runner. I entered a courtesy runner and press save like normal, and it showed as if the runner changed. However, when stealing second, that runner no longer is the CR. It also doesn't appear as if a CR was ever entered on the play by play view.

What kind of device are you using and version of iScore.. ? Also If you can repeat the issue and describe , supprt can replicate for trouble shoot ( I am using an iOS device and could not replicate)

If you have a specific game where this is happening you can email support with your game and device number and they can potentially Use that to investigate further

I know I have personally used courtesy runners extensively over many years (CR for pitcher and catcher in fast pitch tourneys) and do not recall ever running across this issue ..so any help in replicating will help developers

There should not be any difference between a walk and a hit as far as courtesy runners go. We just did the exact same steps, but with a walk instead, and the courtesy runner is remaining in the game. So again, if you can give us the exact sequence of steps that is leading to the issue (and if you can reproduce it with your steps just to confirm), that would be very helpful. Is it possible you used Undo after putting in the courtesy runner by accident?

I'm sure I'm not hitting undo. And as I said, the courtesy runner appears correct, even showing the right name when I'm having them steal or whatever. It's happening after that. I'll let you know if this happens again. We've not had a courtesy runner used since my previous comment. But with 5 games a week, I'm sure the situation will come up again soon... weather permitting.

So it happened again this past weekend. The player walked with a man on, and appears as a courtesy runner in the pitch by pitch. The following player walked (FB, B1, S2(sw), B2, B3, B4). The courtesy runner no longer appears and is replaced in the pitch-by-pitch by the original batter. I can happily send you the log if you'd like to tell me how.
