I scored a game last night that had two runners on base in the bottom half of the 5th inning. Both of those runners existed due to errors, so they weren't the pitchers runs. A couple of pitches later, the ball was knocked over the fence for a 3-run home run.

Why does the pitcher's line show zero earned runs? Isn't the guy that hit the bomb an earned run?

How do I fix it?

If the errors prolonged the inning to the point the batter who hit the homerun would not have even been at bat, then the homerun is not earned either.

If you do need to adjust the earned runs, you can edit the game stats after the game.

I suspect if you had two errors in an inning, no pitcher change and any outs, the HR run was unearned and Iscore probably right . To be sure you have to "recreate the inning" (in your mind) .. 'the earned / unearned rule is to recreate the inning w/o any errors .. To determine earned runs ..Once you hit 3 outs.. No more earned runs .. But more complex w pitching changes but that is the idea..



Iscore does a reasonably good job auto calculating Earned /unearned runs . I would go with it unless 110% sure you are more right.

. But iscore is not perfect as it can not fully simulate what would have happened and that is the real rule . The rule for earned unearned run calc is play back the inning assuming no errors and the combination of human brain and seeing the game live is more complete than the Iscore calc. That said Iscore does a more than admorable job and applies consistent calc rules and I tend to just keep its calc. Unless 300% sure wrong. The value of consistent calc is powerful for comparison stats
