Rain delay timer problem

Post by hectorcrpr » Sat Nov 07, 2015 11:39 pm

Hello all

I noticed when I'm scoring a game, and there's a rain delay, I usually go to Misc and press Rain Delay. When the game resumes, and go to Misc again, and press Resume Game, the game timer is reset to zero.

Is this a feature or a bug? How can I keep the game time up when the game resumes? This is for a Winter Pro League in the Caribbean and we usually like to keep track of the games duration.

Thanks!

To have the game timer start from the point at which it was when you selected Rain Delay, just continue scoring as though there ware no delay. If the pitch is a ball, tap ball, if it is a strike, tap strike. This will cause the time to start from the time it was when Rain Delay was selected.

If you go to Misc and select Resume Game, the timer will reset to zero.

Nice response by @larry

Misc>rain delay ..
Pauses the game timer and puts a Delayed message on the app

simply start re scorning the game, the clock will resume where it left off. In theory you have "game time" not time span

Misc > resume game> resets clock back to zero on screen

@ support ... This reminds me of an enhancement request... From some time back..
Can DELAYED be added to iscorecast ( both web and viewer app).. Last I checked . No on score cast clue in DELAY.. Perhaps replace Inning w delay?

Any note you type in game will appear in the iScorecast, so you could always add a note to the game saying why it is delayed, when it is expected to resume, etc.
Check out the new iScore Baseball documentation page!
Includes videos and user manual.

yes notes are a good workaround ..
I should have mentioned that.

.. I Use notes extensively and perhaps a good place to share a veteran user tip

USER TIP.. NOTES "next play"

Use the Notes "next play" ( not "previous play") option in notes to type in " a message like rain delay" .

although 'previous play' option is the default setting in "notes".. I personally use "next play" more often to ' send messages to viewers'.. B/c of a few reasons

with next play, the Note gets 'pushed out' to viewers 'immediately -' (as immediate as your connectivity allows) i.e. it does not wait on next play to actually happen to send message..

The message is put in its "own line" in both the viewer amd scorecast as well
As in the post game editor.. I.e. Not tagged on the end of the pitch by pitch text..

Message will show up As top row message in blue text in pitch by pitch window on iscorecast

Message will also show up in blue text In own line in play by play window in 'central viewer app''. Plus in app It will show up on Overview window in viewer app too. Very prominently in blue text for a rain delay..

In the old "html" viewer shows up in
Red text. On main unexpanded screen first.

I have set up shortcuts using Keyboard Text Replacements (iOS) for key phrases that I use in notes. Examples:
icvm: Coach visits mound
ipc: Pitching change
idc: Great diving catch
ird: Rain delay
iip: Time out, injured player

I start all of them with "i" so they will appear together in Text Replacements. That makes it easier to keep track of them.

That's interesting.. I do not have a rain delay option on my lg tablet. Where might I find that and if not how would I pause the game for a delay if I would need to?

I do not have an android device in front of me.. But I believe both platforms have same MISC options from the scoring screen .. Perhaps you need to scroll down in MISC to see

On iOS game score if s teen > misc > RAIN DELAY is listed as 9th option right above SHOW STARTING LINE UP..

Hope this helps
