Updating rosters wipes out old names

Post by jcbeckman » Mon Mar 01, 2010 8:10 am

I just purchased the 2010 rosters and updated my 2009 (apparently I hadn't updated after the World Series I guess). I renamed all my 2009 teams last year (to be in the form of "2009 Detroit Tigers") and had no problem with updates last year. But this morning, all my 2009 teams reverted to being just the club name ("Tigers"). I have just gone through and renamed all the 2009 and 2010 clubs, but I don't want to update the 2010 rosters if the names are going to revert. I could have sworn this worked OK for 2009.

It is very possible we were not renaming teams if you had renamed them in previous versions. We will atually make it work that way for the next release as well --- we do not need to update the names as we have internal IDs for each team, so you should be able to rename them whatever you want.

What we did when the 2010 rosters became available is make it so the MLB2009 rosters are in one League, and MLB2010 rosters are in a different league. This allows you to turn off the league you are not interested in seeing so the same names would not appear in the list twice.

If you hold off re-synching again until the next release, we will be sure to not rename teams if you have changed their names in any way. The new release will be out soon.

Thanks! Because I run table-top games, I sometimes have teams from different years playing against each other (the same team at times) so it's important for me to have the year in the name. Having the city/state in the name is just something I like to have. I can certainly hold off on syncing (2009 should be done, and 2010 won't matter much to me until April) until the next release.
