Time tracking

I realize that the app already shows the game time elapsed. However, most tournaments have a time limitation on games. It would be helpful if you could enter in countdown timer for these games.

We do get this request occasionally, but it is not as simple as that. There are many league specific rules about the times like "no new innings started after a certain time", "drop dead at a certain time", etc. What happens if you were counting down and the umpire allowed the game to continue for whatever reason? Would it start showing negative time?

By having the time count up, you can apply whatever rules your local league uses and/or if the umpire lets it go long for whatever reason, you will still be able to capture that as well.

Problem with the running time is that it is hard coded and starts when you hit Play! or the first pitch (I'm not sure which). However, you usually don't get the other team's lineup until after the pre-game meeting. You then have to enter the other team (or at least some of the info) and then you can start the game for the time counter. But that often puts you 2-5 minutes behind because the umpire usually starts the clock at the pre-game meeting.

If you had a programmable countdown timer that gets set in options or MISC or Settings you could set it for how much time is left. Then it could start counting up, so if you have 1:20 for no new inning and 1:30 drop dead it would go off at the 1:20 and then when it counts up to another 10 you know it's drop dead time.

Just a suggestion from using this for a number of years at tournaments.

Even just the ability to manually enter the game start time would be great. Frequently at the pre-game meeting the umpires give the coaches the start time, and scorers find out later. Then the count up time could start from that time, rather than the Play Ball time.

When I get a late roster, I go ahead and start the game clock and then edit the starting roster using Misc-show starting roster. That way I can edit lineup while teams are warming up but game clock has started.

You can override the start time. Exit out of the scoring screen and the start time is available on the Game Info screen and you can modify it there.

I see that you can do that, but when I go back into scoring screen, the game clock does not reset to use it. The idea was to be able to have the counting clock reflect the umpire-determined start time.

I do like the idea of a countdown timer as an option. Maybe tap the time and it toggles from count up to count down. The first time the user tried to toggle you could ask for the countdown time. Yes, the time would just go negative (red text maybe) as needed. The user could always toggle it back to a count up setting. Just an idea to help satisfy all of us that have to have time limits. Probably low priority though.

One customer vote. , I would rather see development resources on more 'baseball/softball' centric aspects.. Than clock/timer

We have watches and timer apps if need more precision and flexibility
