Courtesy Runner - enhancement request

Post by randkos3 » Sun Jan 15, 2012 11:25 am

I've been using iScore to score FP Softball for the past 5 seasons. I love it.

One area that always seems to create panic for me is when a Courtesy Runner is called for . . . for instance . . . our catcher draws a "walk" to load the bases with 2 outs. Our Coach calls out for a Courtesy Runner for our catcher - immediately he turns to me and wants to know who should go in. I have to think - are we playing - "Last recorded out" OR "Last batted out" rules. I go to the "Courtesy Runner" screen and it shows a list of the entire roster . . . then I go back to the "Play by Play" screen printout (luckily I'm using an iPad) and try to determine who should be used as the Courtesy Runner. The coach "asks" again, WHO IS IT??? I confidently (yeah, ha) yell out the player number.

What I'd really like to see - when I go to the "Courtesy Runner" screen, is it indicates who was the "last recorded out" and/or who made the "last batted out". A printed comment next to the appropriate player(s) would be a nice addition to this screen.

Don't know if this is a large request in programming but . . . it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

We will add it to our list. We would assume you would also need to know the "next to last out" in case the last one was the pitcher (or catcher if courtesy runner is coming in for pitcher).

This has been suggested quite a few times. One other option though is if you play substitutions. So it would need to know if you are batting lineup or playing subs.

I'd like to see this information somehow noted on the lineup screen on the main scoring page, so I know at a glance who the last batted out was. Sometimes that goes into the decision of using a courtesy runner. Make it user option to setup last batted out or last out.

Currently, the current batter is is identified in this manner with an arrow and highlighted in yellow text (on ipad version, anyway). Do something similar...use an "x" and red text to show last batted out (or last out).

I'd be less concerned with knowing last two.
