Make it easier to email traditional box score

Would anyone else appreciate a quicker way to email a traditional box score after a game? Like the box score on the website in the list of games. Not with 47 columns of hitting and pitching data--just like the old box score we all used to look up in the paper. The parents and coaches on my team prefer that more abbreviated box score to the one emailed straight from the iPad (or iPhone). The one emailed from the iPad has too many columns so it is difficult to view on a mobile device. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome to have that data available, but it's too much for the common fan.

My workflow now is to export the results to the web database after the game, log on and click on the game box score, then copy and paste the html into an email. It comes out really nicely but it takes too many steps. I know I could pay for iScore webspace and probably have that available, but I do my own webpage and I don't like template sites.

Thank you for the suggestion... this does come up on occassion, and the copy/paste from the Admin Website is the approach we usually suggest. We will keep re-evaluating the priority of this based on user feedback. It is not a high priority right now because there actually is a way to get it, but we do understand you would like to be able to email it straight from the device. Thank you.

I have seen some custom web sites that "embed" the iscore pages of content into their own site, and turn out real nice, folks like the drill down capability on stats, the game specific links to iscorecats, play by play and yes box scores. the 20$ for an annual subscription may be worth looking into for your administrative ease and your families reference to both high level summary information and player specific stats.

So far I have used the iscore app for all of my games so far for my high school baseball team. My manager loves useing the app...makes life very easy. If I could have one thing added it would be the box score added to the end of the game on the device I am using to score the game.

After every game I have to call the local news paper and if I had the good ol fashion box score on the device I wouldnt have to get a peice of paper out to write down who had extra base hits, pitchers stats etc. The web site is nice but when Im on a bus heading home from a game the box score would be a really, really nice addition to the app on the device.

If we allowed the box score to be emailed exactly as it appears on the website, is that what you would send to the newspaper?

Pretty much...when I call they ask for score by inning, runs, hit's, errors for each team, winning and losing pitchers, batters w/extra base hits and anyone that had a big game.

I tried to email myself the stats from the iscore app but I was unable to open up the excel spread sheet. I cannot go on the web site while on talking on the phone (I have the droid x) so I can be on a call and on line at the same time.

I'd like to not only be able to email the boxscore at the end of the game, but also be able to access it during the game. As far as I know, the only way to look at the current state of the game is via the little toolbox icon and then tap the "statistics" button. Even then, it's not in a boxscore format.

A couple things - I'd love to see the current boxscore and/or remove all players who have not been made an appearance in that particular game from the statistics screen. To check the stats for the game on my iPhone, it's a little cumbersome (too many players listed and the stats available too lengthy).

Oh, and I'd also like to reiterate - cumulative stats are a must - you show a LOT of data on the statistics screen, but stats like OPS, OBP, etc., are generally irrelevant game-by-game. For the season, however, these statistics are much more important.

Welcome to the forum

while in game, in addition to the "statistic tables", and the 'line score' you also have the "traditional scorebook". each time a batter comes to bat, you have what they did prior plate appearances, and where they put the ball into play.

Plus, the inning recap provides pitch counts, errors, earned and unearned runs, by half inning (and cumulative) (on iPhone, flick the 'line score' header to the right to show recap icon).

Not the same format as a box score, but very informative.

So that we understand, how as a scorekeeper of the game is a box score being used to help with the scorekeeping? and how are cumulative stats being used as a scorekeeper during a game? We have plenty of post game reports that can be run so a coach can enter a game fully prepared, but trying to understand how that information is being used by a scorekeeper? We do show hit charts during the game, we show previous at bat performance, we have the scorecard as mentioned... these would be the typical questions that come up to a scorekeeper during the game.

If we can understand the problem you are trying to solve, maybe we can come up with a better way of getting the data than trying to present a post game report in the middle of a game.

I'm n not sure how a box score would be used "during" the game would help either...the app it self has so many in-game features I'm still learning them as I go.
I think the main point of this thread was how valuale a traditional box score would be for post game purposes. I would hate to see such a good idea get lost in its own thread. I for one think we sould stick to the main point to help the developers know what we want.
Please...if you have other enhancements start a new thread so everyone can keep order in here...there are so many great ideas I think we should help the great developers out.
