Is it possible on the HTML box scores to have jersey numbers and positions listed ? I am planning to use iScore for a high school state softball championships and this is something media covering the event will want. Thanks.

Moderator note: this post was moved to baseball scorekeeping, enhancement requests (from central viewer, Q&A)

Currently there are at least three different versions of Box Score formats from iscore baseball/softball scorekeeping app. (not counting excel and Max prep formats)

All three boxscore formats are very similar but slightly different depending on source:
  • a) email boxscore From Game Manager on device, ( not tested, but assume android and iOS provide same email format)
    b) boxscore from free Admin web site my.iscorecentral.com
    c) boxscore from optional paid team web site subscription.
none of the 3 versions currently include player positions. While the Team Web site version does currently contain Jersey numbers. And the email version, indents player subs and appends Flex players to End with astericks.

I would suggest for future consideration, Standardizing the Box Scores to a single format that includes Jersey numbers and defensive positions (e.g, c,1b, 2b, etc , as well as PR, CR, DP, DH, EH if appropriate) . Additionally, the box score should indent subs in line as done in email version (but not currently team or admin web site per Related post: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=11646)

The play by play listing on the Admin Website has a nice table of positions played by all players by inning. In the very young youth sports, including positions played by inning in box scores can be problematic because often times players are moved around each inning. That is why the table in the Admin Website play by play is very helpful.

We will look into ways of adding it to box scores in future enhancements as well.

1) Agree, the Player position by inning table on admin site at end of play by play is very nice.
  • to that point, it is has been mentioned before on the forum, it is kinda 'hidden' , hope in the future it will get consideration to include on scorekeeping device, or get more prominent placement on the Admin site, Perhaps making it a "peer selection" to Scorecard, Box Score, Scorecast, Play by Play, Positions Played, ..
2) that said, it is still a common expectation for a box score to have position. See mlb example below and here https://www.mlb.com/gameday/yankees-vs- ... ame=491456. NCAA also provides positions http://www.ncaa.com/game/baseball/d1/20 ... t/boxscore.
  • Yes for youth leagues that have many substitutions, that means a lot of annotations, but it has been handled on scorecard and the program has the data. including the position will be more consistent with sport expectations.
