I pulled the below quote from another thread and thought i would re post here on the " suggestion thread" for Support visibility and consideration in its future feature development considerations ..

You can data share a partially scored game and continue scoring on another device.

Re: Resume Scoring from a Second Device (future feature idea)
great point, that exists today!
In practice, here are the steps for retrieving over the web....
The second device could retrieve the game from the initial source device by 1) connecting to the internet, 2) launching iScore on second devcie and 3) retrieve game by OPTION > DATA SHARE > GET FROM WEB > Enter USER ID and PASSWORD ( from source device, found under options > admin website) and 4) RESUME SCORING...
but It is not a streamlined process. Yes, it can be done by bluetooth - if initial device still working and second device is the same kind, or more likely over the web, using Data Shareing, but you need to know the right sequence of keystrokes (e.g SC:ID and password). As a reminder for those reading along, here is the FAQ for data sharing. http://iscoresports.com/baseball/kb/faq ... _share.phpFTMSupport wrote:You can data share a partially scored game and continue scoring on another device.

- for step 3...,
If the source Device was iScorecast broadcasting , the faster method would be to put "sc:" in front of the USER ID and password ( e.g. sc:1234567890) and then verify and import
If not scorecast broadcasting, the source device would need to connect to internet and publish the game by doing an "Option > Export" , before the second device could retrieve.

Re: Resume Scoring from a Second Device (future feature idea)
Right, but "fans" remote viewing the game will have to exit out of the scorecast, and go to a new link to continue viewing the game. While we can easily tell people on the bleachers to switch over/refresh, that's not so easy to communicate "on the fly" to people who are truly remote. With Game Changer, it's as simple as logging into your GC account on another device, and selecting Resume Scoring from the menu options (still have to wait for it to sync). The fans have no clue what's going on behind the scenes, and continue watching the game from the same central feed.
I've since discovered the Scoreboards, and will be attacking this type of problem from that angle; Exporting the game and scorecast up, pulling it down to the other device, then removing the "old" scorecast. I'm still trying to figure out a good way to communicate this to true remote fans, as they'll still need to go back to the scoreboard and refresh to see the new scorecast being hosted by the different device.
I also wonder how that would tie in for people who are viewing the game from the SI Play Mobile app. As the game was Discovered from Device A, but is now imported to Device B. Would the link remain so that people using the SI Play Mobile app would have a seamless experience, much like GC, or would the Feed just quit altogether for them?
I also want to be clear that switching to a different device "on the fly" is an absolute back up plan. I honestly never want to be in this scenario (as I imagine it would be stressful even knowing the proper steps to take), but scoring on multiple devices is somewhat of a reality when you are scoring multiple games back to back. Time to invest in an "on the go" battery charger too I suppose

Re: How to Resume Scoring from a Second Device (answered)
You can send a note in the scorecast saying you are going to be changing devices before doing so, and the viewers will see that note.
In 8 years of scoring hundreds and hundreds of games (including back to back to back to back games), I have never had the issue of needing to switch devices. Yes, it requires being sure you go to the game with a full charge. If you know you are going to be scoring several in a row, the best thing to do is turn the brightness on your device to the lowest level you can bear (screen brightness is the biggest battery hog of anything).

Nice tip! I'll give that a shot!FTMSupport wrote:You can send a note in the scorecast saying you are going to be changing devices before doing so, and the viewers will see that note.
I've only been scoring 2 years, initially with GC and now over to (the better) iScore With WiFi on, and just about everything else turned off, starting at ~95% by game start, 3 hours later and I'm down to 40%. No way I'm making it through a 2nd game that way. I'll take your tip on turning screen brightness down, but I've also moved over to an iPad as traditionally their batteries are much better.FTMSupport wrote:In 8 years of scoring hundreds and hundreds of games (including back to back to back to back games), I have never had the issue of needing to switch devices. Do you have any feedback on what this experience is for people connecting to the game through SI Play Mobile app?

@support - but Ah devices have been known to over heat , lock up, drop crack ($&%^), fall in water ($#&$!), and some scorekeepers have been known to have to leave unexpectedly for emergency player rides to ER and other such unplanned things. , . . Unexpected, Stupid stuff happens. all without advance notice .
@ randy - A USB battery charger is a great addition, they are now cost effective and highly available. I do not leave home without one anymore.
@ Randy- I point folks to a single team web page, and then i change links under the covers if i have to switch source devices. I also use old fashion email and text.
@ randy, - FYI , notes are a great way to Add color commentary to score casts, as well as to remind yourself of play specifics and oddities. the nots shows up for viewers scorecasts and and is even covered to audio on central viewer app.
- I think this does go under the category of interesting thoughts for future ideation and consideration of user experience and how some competing products operate.
I do not think this is being suggested as a now high priority thing, just good context for future thinking.

Re: How to Seamlessly for Viewing Fans, Resume Scoring from a Second Device (future considerations)
100% agreed. Just would be nice to streamline the change if needed!OhioTex wrote:I do not think this is being suggested as a now high priority thing, just good context for future thinking.
I feel superbly justified in the money I have spent on this for what it offers! My parents that have been with me through GC and iScore, love iScore A LOT more for what it offers - as do I! I just like to prepare for those "Oh $h1t" moments you stated
Just bought one on Amazon now!OhioTex wrote:@ randy - A USB battery charger is a great addition, they are now cost effective and highly available. I do not leave home without one anymore.
Not to get off topic, but if you are on the ballfield how are you handling this? My goal was to use a scoreboard that encompassed both devices through a wide date range, so if I need to switch a device after Game 1 or in mid-game, follow the export, import, remove old scorecast method (if resuming scoring) - "fans" refresh browser and go into what appears to them as the current scorecast. Or point web viewers to the team name URL, same process of refreshing browser. And I'll use that "note" tip to notify fans no matter where they're viewing from!OhioTex wrote:@ Randy- I point folks to a single team web page, and then i change links under the covers if i have to switch source devices.
Thanks again!

I absolutely second this idea. I don't score anymore without a battery pack available.
