TweetCast Enhancements (future.feature.request ideas)

Post by mbartschi » Fri Feb 10, 2017 8:22 pm

This really applies to all iScore products, but since baseball season is coming up next, I'll post it here. ;)

I would love to be able to store the Twitter handle of each team and have the option to use it instead of team names in auto-tweets, which would tag those accounts and increase retweets and engagements. Also, I wish the auto link would connect directly to the game instead of the customer page (baseball/softball) or worse yet the home page (football) where the viewer has to copy & paste or memorize & type the customer ID. And Twitter mobile apps don't allow you to copy just part of a tweet, so unless you're on a full computer, I hope you're good at remembering long codes.

Examples:

Current Behavior - Baseball/Softball
Uses short team name and directs to customer's game menu but viewer still has to select game.
LBHS at WHS has started. Go to iscorecast.com?c=4b86d67cb1 to watch the game live.
Current Behavior - Football
Uses full team name (which often truncates the tweet) and directs to iScoreCast home page. Viewer has to copy & paste or memorize & type Customer ID, then select game.
Winter Park FR at Wekiva FR has started. Go to football.iscorecast.com and enter 4B86D67CB1 in the Customer ID entry box to watch the
Desired Behavior
Uses Twitter handle and links directly to game.
@lakebrantley at @WekivaBaseball has started. Watch live at http://data.iscorecentral.com/iscorecas ... y4uccb3uub
I know that's way over 140 characters, but Twitter counts all links as 23 characters no matter what and trims the display. Or better yet, automatically generate a short URL when the scorecast is created (e.g. iscorecast.com/g/a1b2c3) and use that instead. Maybe even offer click through analytics on my admin website. (Okay, now I'm just being greedy.)

I would like to add a plus 1 to the above enhancement request. I would like to be able to store the twitter handle, @genericteamname, and then be able to kick out tweets with the tweet button that is there when I twitter cast. The twitter casts aren't very useful because they depend upon the tweeter, in this case me, to have a large group of followers. Not true in my case! Better to be able to use the @handle to get the tweet into the thread that does have the large number of followers.

@support, i am not a twitter regular so take w a grain of salt .. but sounds like good ideas.

If twiter considers a URL as 23 characters changing the tweet
  • from ... Go to iscorecast.com and enter 1234567890 to watch
to ... Go to " url blah blah direct game link" To watch
Seems better, less characters and more user friendly, and perhaps could include the redirect capability to open scorecast in browser or central viewer app.

As to storeing @addresses, could you program twitter work flow similar to what doing for email . To leverage native app. iscore opens twitter app w game link copied in ready to tweet or exit. user could edit tweet, or add @addrees Or #mentions
