Password Protect iscorecasts (future.feature.request)

Post by Etr » Sat Aug 13, 2016 6:41 pm

To have a password to go along with your customer ID. Or be able to change your customer ID. that way old players or parents can't access your games.

Welcome to the Forum

This is an interesting request.. I suspect there will be mixed support pro/con on the technical ability to password protect iscorecasts or not..

customer support will need to pick up this request and add it to their list for future consideration.

However, in the meantime, as a member of the forum, (but not part of the developers/iscore company).. I do have a recommendation to help you workaround this problem in the now term ...

RECOMMENDATION
in the future if you are concerned about who views games, do not give out device ID (i do not mean to sound flipant, i understand that is the 'normal' method)

A better option would be to purchase the optional team web site subscription (20$/yr) and use those url links to give to fans..

The main purpose of Team web sites is to provide a 'portal' for your player stats, game by game box scores and replays. But even if you don't use the web page features, you get your own unique url for your team in the form..
http://www.iscorebaseball.com/yourteamname

The viewers can enter yourteamname instead of customer ID. At iscorecast.com . Or go directly to your games at iscorecast.com/yourteamname

Again, the recommendation is to get a team web site and provide that name/url for viewers. Each year/team get a new url and provide that to current team members.

WORKAROUND
there is also a way to permanently change your device ID.. But to do this requires a few steps and you MUST be VERY careful not to loose your data. It is safe, but just takes a few steps. Same procedure as if lost a device.

You basically uninstall and reinstall the app to get a new customer ID. But i repeat - you must take the right steps to save your data. And you can not go back to old ID again.

Steps to permanently change device ID
1) register your device to an email address .. From device OPTION > REGISTER

2) write down and save your current device id and password .. From device> OPTION> ADMIN WEBSITE

3) BACK UP DATA ... device> OPTION > EXPORT to backup your data to the ADMIN SERVER -at my.iscorecentral.com

4) uninstall and re install your iscore application from google / apple store

5) register new device .. Device > OPTION > REGISTER

6) write down new device id and password ... From Device > OPTION > ADMIN WEBSITE

7 go to admin web site, my.iscorecentral.com log in, go to ACCOUNT MENU copy data base from old device to new device

... See FAQ for help on this steps if needed..
http://iscoresports.com//baseball/kb/fa ... lldata.php

8) retrieve data.. from device > OPTION > IMPORT to retrieve the old database to new installation

Done- you now have the same data on your device and a new customer ID

I know a number of steps. This is a workaround , That you can do now to solve your need. Without developers having to make changes which take time

From the iscore baseball reference manual http://iscoreleagues.com/manual/...
"
If you would like to limit the viewing of your games to only people with an additional password to view the game, you can log in to the Admin Website for your device, select the Games tab, select Scorecasts, then click the lock icon next to any iScorecast and you can add a password that users would have to type to watch the game."
