ScoreCast with last initial instead of last name?

Post by bellefso » Fri Jun 03, 2016 11:32 am

I would like to scorecast the Little League All-Star games coming up(coaching) and was wondering if there is a way to get only the last initial instead of the full name. Jim S. instead of Jim Smith. Mostly just because it is kids, some parents are more sensitive at times. I don't put pictures with their player profile for that reason. I just thought it would be nice to scorecast the games but not give too much information out. I didn't see anything obvious so I thought I would ask.

Thanks,

Brian

If you change the player names on your device to just have the initial for last names, then that is what will be displayed on the iScorecasts.

Yes, I knew that was an option, although not a good one. In a league where we might have 10 John S's it isn't a great option. If that is the only option then I would just not scorecast the games since that will make our stats a mess. Or at least not send the URL. It would be great to have the option in the future, even if it doesn't help this season.

Thanks,

That is exactly what you asked for in first post To have John Smith be seen as John S..

You can name them what ever you want and .. It will dais play . Say Initials J S. As an example

Here is what I am asking, which I don't think is the same as the alternative given above.

I want my player list and games to use the full name when scoring, but the scorecast have the option of being abbreviated in some way when dealing with kids games(or for whatever reason). The way I read it is that you would have me change all the actual player information to be abbreviated. The main problem with that is that when I have names for the full set of little league teams there are alot of kids that have similar last/first initials and picking those players from the player list(teams can borrow players when short) it is very hard to pick the correct player.

If there is a separate display name option that I am missing please let me know. If not I think it might be a nice option to have, especially for kids games. Some parents are more worried about that kind of information being out in the world. In the situation I am in I would have to disable the scorecast if any parents had issues with it, rather than mess with the actual players names and impact the stats I have by getting the wrong player.

Thanks,

Brian
