The idea of Providing a new "Safe" > "fielders choice" button on dropped third strike screen- would be a nice solve.. For when drop 3rd strike, PB or WP, occurs but no PB or WP should be attributed to catcher/pitcher because no baserunners advanced - as in the case of 2 outs and a force out of any runner ends the half inning .

It is worth noting, you can score the two out, runner on first, drop third strike (D3S) force out of any runner play in IScore now.. You just have to manually over ride one stat later for the purist to be technically complete.

Enter as suggested ...after the third strike w 2 outs and runners on , enter batter >Safe (D3 PB or D3WP ) and then enter what happen to each base runner, (safe, run not score or out, force out). Then enter which fielders involved in force out.

IScore will create an informative scorecard, credit the pitcher with a strike out and credit put outs and assists (as appropriate) to those fielders you indicated involved in the force out.

The original poster observation here is then IScore will also (incorrectly) credit a PB or WP - Which by rule is incorrect (rule 9.13 and comments ) and should not be counted if any runner is forced out on play to end half inning.

So Until such a enhancement exists .
one can clean up the extra PB or WP with a manual stat override. Not perfect but a viable workaround

This forum is amazing. I ran into this situation scoring a game this afternoon (Stanford 5 Washington State 0). Bases loaded, two outs, dropped third strike, catcher steps on home plate. I scored it as fielders choice/force out -- and I still believe that is correct since the batter never was awarded first base. The remaining mystery is how there could be a force-out at home without a runner on first. I think, however, I'll leave that mystery in the hands of those more expert than me.

Mostly, though, I wanted to thank the folks at iScore and participants in this forum for a lively, informative discussion.

Best,
Tony Lima
