Team Website (responded)

Post by jmj799 » Wed Mar 28, 2018 5:53 am

So now that either me or the fans have to pay to watch, can I score more than one team in a team website if I am the admin for them all?

I scorekeep for 3 different teams and do not think it is fair for me to pay $60 a year. Can I keep all 3 teams on one website?

I would like to know more about your situation scoring for three teams.. depending on your situation, there may different ways to possibly handle to help off set the cost.

By design, The team web sites are set up for one team at a time. They provide the capability to maintain team and player stats as well as game box scores and play by play on line. ( imho - a good value even before the inclusion of mobile app unlock)

That said, You can change the team associated with the web site at anytime during the year. For Example in spring you can use your team Web site subscription for your high school team, the in summer for travel ball team, and in fall for tournament team. All for the same $20 annual fee (and a bit of self administration on the free admin site). The URL would remain the same, just change which team on your device drives the web site.

However, at a given point in time, the team site is only for one team. (You score only 1 game at a time ). So For example High School AD who decides he needs 3 teams, freshman, jv and varsity - who all play in the same season, would need three team subscriptions. Each team would have its own web site and then all fans in school can watch.

A third case, for someone scoring multiple teams is the "league" or "tournament" director situation . Si Play offers a complete League Manager solutions, with its SiPlay program - with extensive features for team and fan coordination and communication. Plus it includes integration with the iscore mobile scorecast in siplay app. (Tourney Machine, a neat app btw, is a related solution for tournament directors). the price for these are based on league and tournament size i believe.

Another scenerio, if you are a parent and a casual scorer, a few games a season for yourself and want your spouse who has to miss game or two to watch remotely. Then i would suggest the $5/3 month subscription may suit your needs ($20-yr if need year round). I guess The tipping point would then be if scoreing for more than 4 fans watching or not.

Lastly, as a reminder, You can still score for free and provide twitter updates for free or view the iscorecast on a web browser on a computer or laptop for free.

The company has provided some reasonable options but I would be interested to hear more about your 3 team needs and if they fall in onw above categories or another category.

If you plan to use one team website for multiple teams (possible via OhioTex's suggestion above) you may want to use a generic url when setting it up. The url for a team website cannot be changed. Maybe use the admin's name rather than a team name.

This would appear to work for me as I score HS games and then a travel team. However, the solution would appear to be a loophole and I fear the folks at iScore may close it, rendering it ineffective and further restricting viewing options. One of the main reasons I use iScore over GC was the free viewing by anyone. I've had 15 or more parents following games when we travel and they all love it. Now that we're all addicted we have to pay. It's just a little sour, that's all. I understand the need to generate a revenue stream to keep up the product. On the plus side for me, this will be my last year using iScore regularly as my kid is off to play college ball in the fall.

@tivonut, I do not think Reusing the Team web site is a loop hole.. it has been a feature for years. , the developers created the way to change teams and devices assigned to the URL on the admin web site. .

Thanks Tex, I'm sure you're right, but free viewing was a feature for years, until it wasn't.
