Support will need to weigh in.. I only have iOS devices,

I was unaware that android did not have the male/female option.
(Support had not mentioned that before that i recall)

but in thinking about it, it may make sense as i think apple/google control the voices, not iScore.

Regardless, did you get the Female voice to work. (i think the female issue on iOS is an apple only issue) .

if so, what rate and pitch do you recommend. so i can update my post with the information

thanks so much for the input

I would not recommend the female voice because i have never heard a female call a game on the radio. Call me sexist, but i prefer old fashion. My 5th grade son did not like it either.

This sucks, the only reason i bought the premium is so i could play the broadcast in the dugout. We are already losing players to lacrosse and i thought this might provide additional interest. But nobody wants to hear a womens voice call the game, especially this computer generated one. Maybe a Beyonce voice would be ok.

I thought it would be neat if you could pick your broadcasters voice. Like Jack Buck or Vince Scully.

1 a) does the female voice work ? and b) at what pitch and rate setting is best?
  • I would like to know so i can update some of my other posts with this helpful information, (b/c i had not head from support that Android had only female audio option)
2) support will need to weigh in on why android only has a female option. I assume a google and apple thing.

3) i agree choices would be nice, not just male/female but also accent type( the male voice on iphone sounds a bit more british/australian than i would have chosen)

4) of course legendary voices would be extra special, but that seems likely cost prohibitive for a 5$ app and probably technically challenging. Also the app serves multiple sports, so what may be great for baseball would not be great for basketball or football or soccer etc.

5) finally, There are many women in sports broadcasting. in two seconds, off the top of my head i can think of a couple prominent ones in baseball not mention tons in softball. On Radio- that small franchise, the New york yankees have had Suzyn Waldman doing color commentary for a dozen years. On TV ESPN now has jessica mendoza on sunday night national broadcast for baseball games. I have personally listen to both, and though i prefer my "home town" radio voice, I appreciate their analysis too.

Not to mention there are female players/ women's teams that use the app for baseball and fastpitch softball.

again,i am in favor of user selected choices but but not solely because of gender.

I am told o Android, iScore uses googles built in text to speech engine.
you control the voice in your devices settings menu and different voices can be downloaded from google play -https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... .tts&hl=en

I did some quick research and looks like, Google’s Text-to-Speech tool has been updated multiple times over the last 18 months (including as recently as April 6, 2017) to include many voice variations in various languages. reportedly there are a number of options for both female and male alternatives available on every device.
  • on your andorid phone
  • ]Head into your system Settings.
  • In the Personal section, tap on Language & input.
  • Scroll to the bottom and tap on Text-to-speech output.
  • Tap the gear to the right hand side of Google Text-to-speech Engine.
  • select “Install voice data”.
  • Select the language of your choosing and check out the different voice options available

Please report back on your findings.
