Has anyone had any issues viewing the screen on cloudless days? I score and take photos which means I'm rarely in the shade. thanks for any help.

Yes, It is common. Shade is very very valuable. also if wearing polarizing sunglasses, Try rotating screen. Sometimes the polarized lens do not work with tablets. Also in hot days and direct sun, iPads have been known to shut down (overheated). Many posts on that too in the past
