Team Website address

Post by millertimejr » Sun Sep 01, 2013 8:31 pm

I mistakenly paid for two years when purchasing my website. Not a problem because I'm going to score my new team using iscore in 2014 too. The issue I have is I would like to change the website address to reflect my new teams name and can't figure out how that can be done. Can you please help me change my address?

If this is a brand new site, we may be able to change it for you if you have not done any editing yet. Email us at support@iscoresports.com with the URL of the website and let us know in the email what happened.

For existing / established sites, the URL can not be changed because there will already be references to the URL throughout the site.

as a long time user, thought i would add on..

For those reading along, inability to change URL may sound "strict" (and it is) but from my experience it is not because iSCORE is greedy, just a technical boundary. since introducing team web sites, iSCORE has gone out of its way to enhance url flexibility, allowing users Free trial team web sites and enabling user to port the URL from team to team and device to device (through admin web site ).but it is my understanding that changing URLs once assign is just too much technically at this time.

I have a sort of related question.

We have played under our team name for the last year and a half and are currently using that name in our fall season.

However, in the spring we will affiliate with a local baseball academy and will change our name to reflect that. It's a total change, not just adding the name of the academy - our nickname will change as well.

Assuming we get a new team website (new URL) for the new team name, is it possible to move the history of the team (including the old team name in game recaps, box scores, etc.) to the new site so that the stat history can be preserved?

If you use the same team in iScore for the new team, then the history would be available on the new website. If it is a new team on the device (i.e. if you have 2 different teams in iScore), then it can not be maintained on a single website.

let me elaborate perhaps a bit more.

the computer generates a unique tracking number for its internal tracking purposes that assigns the team to the web site.. you can rename the team on your device for human eyes, and the computer won't care it sees it as the same team..

so Say you were the 1995 California Angels and decided to become the 2002 Anaheim Angels and later changed you name in 2005 to the Los Angeles Angels .. if you used Team Manager and just renamed each year, (ie did not create a new team) then the computer would see it as the same team , and keep it associated with the team web site.. you just manage the different years with leagues. any previously scored game would have the old team name in the Game Header Team x vs Team y, and the scorebooks too, unless you edit that stuff in game info screen - game by game.

the URL
if the old URL was iscorebaseball/California Angels.. since you only bought it for a year, when it runs out, instead of renewing it, you could buy a new team web site. iscorebaseball/LA.angels.. and through the admin web site have the "team" associated with the new URL... Leaving the web site user able to select the appropriate leagues on the team web site to see past years.

of course, you would have to add/remove (or make inactive) players in team rosters in team manger of course. but please do not delete any old players from player manager, or games from game manager.

Thanks for the info. I think I understand, but I'm going to use my team's specifics to make sure.

Our current name is Elite Baseball. Our team website is iscore.com/elitebaseball.

On our website you can see all of our games from 2012 fall, 2013 spring and now 2013 fall.

Effective in 2014, our team name will change to Northshore Baseball Academy Prospects.

I understand that I can keep the history of the team by changing the name of the team on the iPad that I use to score the games.

Ok, it gets tricky - our old URL does not expire until August but we are changing names in January.

What are my options come January?

Would I have to purchase a new team website and reassign the team to the new URL?

What happens to the old URL that does not expire until August?

To get a new URL, yes, it requires purchasing a new team website.

You can continue using the existing team website until August and then instead of renewing that site, create a new one with the new name you would like. In that case, the old URL would show expired in August.

The other option would be purchasing the new website in January and begin using that. The old URL will still expire in August, but you will have the URL you want immediately.

yep - you have a value decision to make ... is the updated/ more descriptive URL worth 20$ or not. now, January, or next august...

FYI - the URL syntax is iscorebaseball.com/TeamName (not iScore.com/TeamName)
so http://iscorebaseball.com/elitebaseball (not iscore.com/elitebaseball)

( P.S. I see located in slidell... ... I went to high school in New Orleans back in the day )
