TIP: How to Copy Complete DataBase From one Device to Another - FAQ

Post by FTMSupport » Sat Jan 26, 2013 3:28 am

We have added the ability to do a complete database copy from one device to another. The most common use case for this will be when a user gets a new device that they want to use iScore on, and they want to transfer their data over to the new device. (For advanced users, you can also use it to transfer between multiple devices you score on instead of data sharing if you are careful. It does not "merge" the way Data Sharing does, but sometimes you just want to keep two or more devices having the exact same data and this will work).

Here is a link to our FAQ describing how to do a complete data transfer:

http://iscoresports.com/baseball/kb/faq ... lldata.php

For a new device, another common request is to transfer a Team Website to that new device. Here is a link that describes how to do that:

http://iscoresports.com/baseball/kb/faq ... device.php

A couple other things to note when you transfer data to a new device:

* iScorecasts do NOT get transferred automatically. iScorecasts are sent to our server from the device you scored the game on. Even when you transfer your data, the iScorecast is still associated with the device it was scored on. If you want the iScorecast to be available from your new account, you can go to Game Manager on the new device after transferring, select the game you want to put on the iScorecast server, then scroll down to "iScorecast Synchronize" and tap that

* Player Photos do not get transferred. Like iScorecasts, player photos are associated with the device that uploaded them. If you want the new device to have photos associated with your players, you will have to upload them again

* For those with team website, the "Scorecard PDF" will not be transferred. You can get the Scorecard to be available on your website by emailing yourself the scorecard from your new device after transferring. Sending an email of the scorecard allows the server to save a copy to your account. (NOTE: You can also just use "web" as the email to address and it will save the scorecard to the server without actually sending an email.)

* If you have MLB Rosters, you can transfer those to your new device from the Admin Website (see this link: http://iscoresports.com/baseball/kb/faq ... device.php

Hi,
We have data entered on an iPad for which the iTunes password has been lost.
So, to update the iPad, we intend to delete all its data (including the iScore app), start a new iTunes account, repurchase and reinstall the iScore app.

In order to get the old data to the new iTunes account do we just use the instructions here to import the data as if it were a new device?

I've already exported the data to the iScore server, seen it is there and retained the user ID and password for the server.

Anything else I need to do?

Yes, you would recover it the same way. You can likely just do an Options -> Import to retrieve your exported data, but keep a copy of the current Customer ID just in case it does change for any reason, and you would be able to recover the data using that.

If I am going from an iPad to an Android tablet, can it easily transfer all of my data over? Would all of my log in credentials for the website and the iscore cast remain the same?

Yes.
Yes You can move data from iOS to Android Device.

Here is a link that describes how to Copy the entire database from old device to new device (overwrites everything on new device)

Just wanted to get a clarification so I will do things the easiest way...

I've been using the iScore baseball and basketball apps for a couple of years now on an iPad first generation. I recently got an iPad 3rd generation and I've already downloaded the iScore basketball app onto it from the cloud. I keep stats for my son's HS basketball team, and I want to start using the new iPad, but we are 11 games in and I want to keep all the stats together obviously.

What would be the easiest way for me to move the current season's team stats to the new iPad, and not risk losing them, and getting everything separated? Thanks in advance for the help.

The easiest way to transfer all your data from one device to another is to either do a backup / restore in iTunes, or for iScore specifically, you can use the "Transfer All Data" technique by registering your two devices to the same email address and following the steps in the following link:

here's a weird one.

I play in a league where other teams also use iscore. One particular team had Iscore on his phone and we shared data periodically. He lost that phone and had to get a new one, so he no longer has Iscore. His my.iscorecentral.com page still works and has complete data for the games I want to get into my Ipad but when the data comes over a lot of games are 0-0 on the import but correct on the website. Anything I can do to get that data into my device from his old device correctly since it is correct on the myiscore page?
