Slow startup

Post by Chris » Sat Apr 18, 2009 1:41 pm

I wondered if you've noticed that if you start a game then have to leave it for some reason (make or receive a phone call, send or receive text, etc.), when you come back in, users are returned to the "Select Game" screen. After the user selects the game they want to continue scoring, it takes quite a while for iscore to re-enter that game. the apple "wheel" icon swirls for a couple minutes in some cases.

We have never seen it take minutes. It does have to "reload" all the game data, and get you back up to the point you were in the game, but the longest we have seen is in th 5-10 second range. Just out of curiosity, has it been a while since your iPhone has been "restarted"? By this, I mean actually powered off where you have to slide the slider asking you to power off?

The reason I ask about this is... as several application in the app store warn... it is a good idea to make sure you do this occassionally to make sure all memory is freed up --- you never know with all the free apps available if they might leave bad data around.

If you do a restart like that, and still have a game that takes a long time to load, please Export your database to us (Options button from main menu), and send us an email letting us know when you do it, and the name of the game, and we will take a look at your database.

Thank you.

Thank you for working with us Chris. Your exported data helped us troubleshoot the issue, and we now have the solution documented in our FAQ for anyone else that experiences this problem. See the following link:
