How do I do this?

Post by Chris » Wed Jul 22, 2009 10:36 am

Men on 1st and 3rd, 1 out. Pitcher makes an errant throw on a pickoff attempt at 1st base allowing the runner on 3rd to score and the runner on 1st to go to 2nd.

If I touch the runner on 1st and score him safe at 2nd on an error by the pitcher, iScore does not ask me what happened to the runner at 3rd and that runner stays at 3rd which isn't right.

If I touch the runner at 3rd and score him safe at home on an error by the pitcher, iScore asks me what happened to the runner on 1st. I score him as safe at 2nd on an error by the pitcher and then the team ends up with 2 errors. This isn't right either.

What is the right way to score this one?

I just scored this as follows, and it correctly shows 1 team error (when looking at statistics). I am using version 2.0, so something may have been fixed in this version (awaiting Apple's approval), but I think it may work in version 1.65 as well. If it doesn't, then as soon as you upgrade, the statistics will automatically be fixed.

If you want to record the pickoff attempt (so it shows in the Pitch by Pitch view), click the runner on first, "Pickoff Attempt, Safe, First, Held Up".

Then, click the runner on third, "Safe, Home, Error, P". It then asks what happened to the runner on first, "Safe, Second, Error, P".

If you now view the stats, it should show a single error for the pitcher, and one team error in the box score. This works because iScore detects when the error is used twice in a single sequence of events, it is only counted as a single error that allowed multiple things to occur.
