Runner Hit by Ball w/ < 2 outs

Runner on 1st and 2nd. Batter hits grounder to 2nd base. Would be fielded by SS, except runner hits the ball (looks like he didn't try to get out of the way - possibly to avoid DP - 6-4-3). Anyway, scoring - Batter - In Play - Fielder's Choice, Runner on 2nd - Out Hit by Ball, Runner on 1st advance to 2nd on ??? Advanced by Batter? Rules state 7.08(f) that ball is dead once the runner is hit by the ball and no runners advance except for runners forced to advance.
So, my question - how do I score the runner on 1st forced to advance to 2nd - advanced by batter, held-up at 2nd, or ??? Sounds like it is a dead ball so the boys can walk to their forced base if they so choose (ie, ball is dead). One note -the rule says the runner is out if "He is touched by a fair ball in fair territory before the ball has touched or passed an infielder." Wouldn't the pitcher count as a passed infielder? My thoughts are that "passed" is defined as "should have fielded" but I wouldn't be able to quote support from the rule-book.
Awesome app !! And awesome forum . . . Have learned a ton from this forum . . .
