Can someone tell me what the DP and Flex options are for batters?

Here is my situation. Sometimes we bat the entire roster (11 players) and sometimes we bat 9 (with 2 subs). In our league, the subs can be substituted for 1 player only (similar to MLB), however, the original player can re-enter the spot that he was subbed for. How can i Score this on the app to make sure that the stats are correct for each player?

For example player 1 starts the game and is batting 1st. He plays the field in the first inning and bats in the first inning. At some point in the game, player 2 subs for player 1 and plays the field and assumes the 1 hold in the batting order. At at later point in the game, player 1 re-enters for player 2 and plays the field and goes back into the 1 hole in the batting order, etc......

How would i setup the players to do this? Or is this even possible?

You would not need to use DP and Flex to do this. iScore allows "free substitutions" meaning you can do offensive or defensive substitutions at any time, and iScore will track the stats correctly. We try and follow a "score what you see approach" meaning you do not need to guess at whether a player is subbing for a player offensively, defensively, or both. When a player comes to bat, if it is not who you expect, tap the batter, and tap who should be at bat. This would be an offensive substitution. When players are in the field, if it does not match what is on your screen, just tap the defensive position, and tap the player that should be in that position. Do that for each player. Do not worry about the offensive side of things. If you happen to know a player is truly subbing for the player, you can make the offensive switch as well, but if not, just wait until the players come to the plate to make that determination.

If you ever miss a substitution (offensive or defensive) during a game, you can always go to the Pitch by Pitch screen to make any missed changes.

Thanks. I didn't realize you could sub offensively as easily as you can defensively (I never had the need to do this until this weekend). What are the DP and Flex options for?

It is kind of like having a DH for ANY player. You can actually score games in iScore without using the DP/Flex designations, but for the leagues that do have them, we have the capability built in.

I am pretty sure that DP and Flex are used in softball only and not baseball.

Some high schools have the rule in Baseball as well, but it is definitely more common in softball. Many coaches at high schools may never use the rule because of the complexity and because of the tradition of baseball, but the rule does exist.
