Sun and battery life

This is more a question for you experienced iPhone/iscore users. I have an iPhone 4 and have not yet scored my first game. I am wondering what your experience has been like scoring in the bright sunlight. Any problems or solutions? I have noticed turning the brightness up helps outside but of course this uses battery life much faster.
Which brings up my 2nd question - what has been the experience in trying to score multiple games in one day - do you have enuf battery life?

I use the iPad. Have no problem scoring three games.
I use the lighter skin and turn the brightness down.
Also, if I know it's going to be a long time I turn the iPad off a lot. Wait till a few pitches go through to turn it back on and enter them.

iphone, double headers OK, airplane mode and half brightness. Outdoors works pretty well. sometimes need hand over for glare, but works well. battery life key is airplane mode. also triple header fast pitch games. but that is cutting it close on iphone battery life.

I use an iTouch in WiFi mode. I can get 1.5 games (youth 6 inning games) out of it before I need to charge. I carry an Imax Power external battery that can hold enough juice for several full charges. I can score a full weekend tournament of 5-6 games without ever plugging my iTouch into the wall when I have the Imax handy.

I carry a long outdoor extension cord to tournaments. Plug in the ipad between games or during if necessary. Have lasted 6+ games. With the ipad, the bigger worry is overheating, which can be avoided by keeping out of direct sunlight.

Instead of Airplane Mode, turn off Wi-Fi and 3G. Your battery will last significantly longer and you'll still be pushing data to iScorecast for absent fans to watch.
My emergency solution is a cigarette lighter socket soldered to a 4AA battery pack. It stays in my son's bat bag along with extra AA batteries. That lets me use my regular car charger if my battery gets uncomfortably low.

If you are in a shaded area, and the sun is not an issue, you can turn down the brightness of your display. That actually uses more battery power than almost anything else if you have it turned way up. Sometimes you will need the brightness if you are using your device in bright sunlight, but it is a great battery saver to turn it down if you can.

I don't have an itouch / ipad, but I do have a Motorola Xoom tablet w/ Android and use an anti-glare screen protector. It does not make the screen brighter, but the reduction in glare really helps in the sun. People have complained about trying to use the Xoom in the sun, but with this screen protector I can manage just fine. I've scored with and without in the sun and the anti-glare definately helps... at least on the Xoom. I would recommend the Steinheil Ultra Fine anti-glare protector. They are more expensive but well worth it in my opinion. Has almost no "sparkle" effect due to the anti-glare coating and finger prints are almost non-existant now.

one that has not been mentioned, use the iscore "light skin" option in the sun. (the white background vs the green background)
