i'm sure this has been answered many times, but i havent figured out how to accurately score this double play that happened.

runner on first 1 out

batter hits it to the SS who steps on second for out 1 and throws it to first (6-3) for out # 2.

i tried a few differant ways, but didnt it didnt accurately indicate how this double play happened.

thanks for your help!

There are several ways to score this but my suggestion is

In play
Fielders choice
location
touch each player, 6-6-3
What happened to runner on first, out, force out
What happened to batter, out, Double play

My son said he would score it as

Out
Ground out
Location of ball
6-3
Then what happened to runner on first
out, second base, double play

This credits SS with PO and assist and 1B with a PO. The batter gets a stat for ground into double play- GDP.

He would not use fielder's choice because that option is if batter is safe which he is not. The fielder's choice also credits the batter with a FC in the stats which is not correct.
