I score games for our high school team and have noticed recently that iScore assigns earned runs in situations where I think that they should be unearned runs. Is that something that I could override or change after the game?? Also, how does the program determine this? It seems that this is a scoring interpretation if the error would have allowed the run to score or if the error did not occur would the runner have score anyway.
At this level of play, ERA is critical to the pitchers future.
Thanks,

Determination of Earned vs Unearned runs
Re: Determination of Earned vs Unearned runs
Yes you can manually override the automatic earned runs on iOS devices..
On the device when you look at stats
(game manage> game> team pitching stats)
Tap on a stat cell of concern, up pops keypad, change value to what you need
(will recalculate team stats but will not update a PDF scorecard or play by play)
Same editing goes for batting and fielding stats
The iscore folks have worked hard over to get wanted and unearned runs consistent with MLB, but there some times where the computer program just can't know the whole story like an on site official scorer. That said, if you post a special case where you think the program is routinely in the wrong, I suspect the developers would like to know/review to see if they missed something..

Re: Determination of Earned vs Unearned runs
Good option. I wasn't aware that this was how to edit. You are correct, many times it isn't very straight forward in determination of whether a run would have scored if the error didn't occur. It is hard to re-create the inning without the error taking place in your mind must less, create programming code to do this! [Good luck with that!]
Thanks for your response!!

Re: Determination of Earned vs Unearned runs
TIp - after an inning with errors and runs.. A review of the half inning recap is a nice trick to do real time, while still fresh to see if you agree or disagree with earned runs by iscore.
Re: Determination of Earned vs Unearned runs
Excellent idea. I had to really stretch my memory the next day on a recent game!
