All, I am new to iScore Bsaeball - plz tell me how to score this...

Runner on first no outs. Batter hits a grounder up the middle which the SS fields, steps on second base and throws to first for the double play.

Out,
Ground Out,
Touch Location of ball
Touch SS - 1B
(asks what happened to the runner), Out, Second, Double Play

That's it.

Great thanks. Just a little counter-intuitive cuz you want to score it chronologically. Once you get used to iScore always asking you about all the runners afterwards you are fine. Love the app - lot of fun.

Double plays are a bit more tricky, and take some practice.

as you get more practice, you should also investigate "quick out double plays" , they are access by swiping the out button instead of hitting in play.

But it doesn't ask for the fielders who make the first out (the second one you are recording), so presumably doesn't pick those up in defensive stats or show up in the scorebook, right? Am I missing something?

Iscore handles double plays, in stats and on score book. it asks all the needed questions to know who did what. I do not follow your question.?

to satisfy yourself, simulate a double play on your device and you will see or give us a situation and folks will post how they tap it into iscore.

there are a few quirks with reverse double plays eg 1-3-5 (pitcher to first to second) but they are also scorable to give assists and put ou credit where due.

I'm sorry, but following the directions above does not lead to a correct scoring outcome. It is correctly listing the batter's out (e.g., 4-6-3) but the runner (that is, the first half of the DP), should show as 4-6. Nothing appears in that box except the out. And while the shortstop should get both a PO and an assist an e play, he gets only an assist in the stats. The system never asks how the runner from first to second got out after you press "double play" or use the quick scoring method. Is that a flaw, or is there some other way?

@PTSBrian
iScore can be a little confusing on double plays, however, the stats should be correct, especially if you use the quick outs-swipe method to score one. If you use the quick outs method and select a double play choice (e.g. 4-6-3), then you have told iScore about both runners. If you score it using the normal method and tap Out, Ground Out, iScore will ask you who handled the ball. At this point, you tap all the players involved in both outs (e.g. 2B, SS, 1B). When it asks what happened to the runner on first, you tap Out, Second Base, Double Play. This should still score the correct assists and put outs.

Like I said, it is a little confusing to tap all of the fielders from both outs when you think you are only scoring the batter. It makes sense though once you've done it a couple of times.

Try this again....
situation: runner on first, no outs, bater hits into a 4-6-3 double play

iscore taps would be...
out > ground out > location, next > 2b,SS,1B (ie 4-6-3), done
what happen to runner on first? > out > double play

Score book shows
> FO# out 1 (for runner going from first to second) (where,# is the batter who hit into the double play)
> DP4-6-3 out 2 (for batter/runner)

stats show
> PO for 1B,
> PO and Assist for SS,
> Assist for 2B

alternately ... flick out, tap 4-6-3 double play, location? gives the same scorebook and stats, just less taps.....

@PTSBrian What is missing on this ?

OK, to get the correct fielding and batting (GDP) stats, you need to either choose the "quick flick" DP option, or (if it is not available, such as 6-3) choose Ground Out and recored the Double Play (out of order) on the runner. However in either case, the GO total for the pitcher is wrong. It only records one GO. In fact, forgetting about double plays, it will not record a pitcher's GO for a fielder's choice ground out.
