How to handle batting out of order

Post by escalanteld » Thu May 21, 2009 7:55 am

I was keeping score for a game where my team skipped a batter. The next batter was already at the plate and the first pitch had been thrown when I noticed the error. The other team did not catch the error, so the play just continued. I could not figure out how to skip the batter in iScore.

From the main scoring screen, press the "Misc" button, then "Skip Batter".

Interestingly, something like this came up in the Brewers/Astros game last night, but the error was caught. Kazuo Matsui was listed first, and Michael Bourn was listed as batting second on the official lineup given to the umpires. Bourn came up to bat first. After he singled, the issue was brought to the attention of the umpires, and the official scoring on it was this:

Matsui out with a 2U (catcher unassisted).
Bourne came to bat again.

I thought I would add it here in case this happens to anyone else. I know I certainly would have been puzzled about how to score it, were I scoring that game.

Wow. Haven't seen that situation in MLB in a long time.

Thanks for the tip, Ben!
