When 1b drops ball on throw

Post by Tguerr16 » Fri Jan 14, 2011 7:34 pm

Ground ball to SS...SS fields it clean and throws a strike to 1b. Firstbasemen drops the throw and runner is safe.
It's scored 4-E3. Now how do I do this in score?

In iScore, you would just score the error on the first baseman. It would be entered as:

In Play, Error, touch location of hit, Next, 1B

Does the SS lose an assist just because the 1b dropped the ball?

Yes, the SS will not get credited for an assist. You can manually add the assist for the SS after the game in this scenario. Just go to Game Manager, select the game, and select Defensive Statistics for the right team, and edit the Assists column for the SS.

Randkos3. Has a good point..

Following MLB rules, {10.10.a.1} the shortstop does deserve an assist.

The work around of putting in a note (4-3e) and later overriding stats and adding assist does work, .But perhaps this should go on the list for future consideration/investigation for a better way to input the play.

Perhaps a new button on the touch the players who touched the ball screen to assign awaits and errors there..hmm

The reason I asked the question is because I know it's a rule due to the fact that I am a high school baseball coach and this happens more than say a college or pro game.

This has been brought up before, and we have it on our priority list already. Hopefully it is something we can get to this season.
